the cap color reliability question comes up every time there's a batch change - colors are a manufacturer convention rather than a standardized identity marker, so the same producer can shift colors between runs without any change in contents. the only way to verify compound identity in a specific vial is independent testing, not visual inspection of the cap or any other external feature
