Tirz isn't working for me... help?

Starting weight: 220, current weight: 188, goal weight: 160. I'm in week 3 of 12.5mg, and I haven't seen any movement on the scale for a month or so. Am I just a slow responder? I'm definitely not eating too much; if anything, I'm probably not eating enough because I'm just not hungry! Any advice?

It's possible you're unknowingly eating at your maintenance calories. Most people underestimate how many calories they're actually consuming unless they're meticulously tracking everything or eating the same meals every day.

If that's not the case, and you're truly eating very little, try increasing your calories for a few days. Then, go back to your regular diet. This seems to reset my body and allows fat loss to continue. I've been eating at a pretty big deficit for what feels like forever and doing a cheat meal or two a month really helps!

Yeah, I have a history of not eating enough. I normally just ate when I felt hungry. I didn't have this problem when I first started Tirz, so I thought maybe it just stopped working or something was wrong. I'll try eating a bit more this week and track it carefully!

Maybe try a Mazdutide shot? I did 0.75mg and dropped 4 lbs after being stuck on Tirz. It must be the glucagon. I got some nausea, so I lowered the dose to 0.5mg. The nausea went away, and I felt great with more energy and another pound gone! But my heart rate went up after the third dose, so I stopped and went back to Tirz.

I've been managing to squeeze in a cheat day *every day* since mid-December. Feeling pretty good about it. 🤰

I don't know how popular this will be, but from my diet experience: if you're not losing weight with intuitive eating, you should start tracking your calories closely until you do. Tirz makes it easy to stick to a calorie budget, but it's not magic. You won't lose weight in a surplus.

100%. There are tons of variables that affect calories in vs. calories out, but the laws of physics can't be broken. Energy has to be conserved.

GLP-1s make it easier to reduce calorie intake, and some can affect calorie expenditure, but you can still eat enough to overcome either effect.

Exactly. Every time I feel like I'm at a standstill, I track every single calorie. Then I realize that when I am eating, I'm choosing high-calorie foods. Tirz reduces food cravings and appetite, but it doesn't make your brain choose mustard over mayo, Splenda over sugar, olive oil spray over globs of butter, or a turkey sandwich over a cheeseburger...

Agreed. Just get an app with all the foods and restaurant items pre-counted, and it's pretty simple. Tracking can be annoying, but it works.

How tall are you? Expect the last 20 lbs to be hard. Your metabolism slows; you need fewer calories than you did at 220. A lot of people plateau a bit above their ideal weight. You'll probably have to work hard for those last pounds. I don't know why it works that way but it seems to.

Also, I'm on 12.5 and in a stall. There may be natural points where your body pauses to adjust. It might not be related to the 12.5, but just a coincidence.

Have you noticed physique changes during your stall? I often see body changes, like clothes fitting better, even when my weight is steady, and vice versa.

Make sure you're eating good calories - protein, veggies, fiber. Track calories and target a 500-calorie deficit. Don't be afraid to go to 15mg if needed. Drink a ton of liquid/electrolytes. Exercise a few times a week. Lift heavy things. The weight will eventually go.

Wanted to add to this conversation that if you were losing weight on a lower dose and have since stalled it may be worth trying to go back down to that dose. Sometimes the body can react to higher doses by holding weight.

How long have you been on the medication overall? Sometimes it takes a little while for the lower doses to kick in. It's possible your body is still adjusting to the 12.5mg as well, especially if it's a recent increase. Don't get discouraged too fast!

Adding fiber to your diet can help with weight loss and also help you feel fuller for longer. Try to incorporate high-fiber foods into each meal. Also, ensure you're drinking plenty of water. It makes a big difference!

I've heard of people having success with a "protein sparing modified fast" when they hit a plateau on these meds. Basically, you eat a very high protein, very low carb diet for a few days to kickstart fat loss again. Maybe look into that?

No worries, you were just helping. Read lots of good stuff about them but sending money then saying no shipments until after holidays without that upfront - bad impression. If he'd said wait, I would've. Four thirty wasn't pocket change.

Heart racing isn't just a small bump. Two ways to help: long slow cardio regularly, or dose every other day instead of weekly to spread it out and hit your weekly total.
