Tirz or Reta to start?

Hey all,

I'm new to all this, and I'm hoping you can give me some advice. I've looked but I can't find this specific question asked before.

I'm a 28 year old woman who works out consistently, but I can't get rid of the last bit of weight. So, I'm here to learn about GLP options.

I'm torn between retatrutide and tirzepatide. The fast results people see with reta worry me a bit, thinking about loose skin. Tirz seems like it's more steady, but will that mean I won't see big changes? I know sema is another choice, but I want to try to keep my muscle mass.

What do you think is best if I want to drop about 20-30 pounds and I'm already hitting the gym regularly?

Sorry if this is a basic question, but any outside opinions would be great.

Thanks!

Either way, you're gonna need to watch what you eat! I could barely eat, but I made myself get protein down and stuck to a diet.

These peptides give YOU control!

Also, remember you mostly only drop fat if you're lifting weights while on Triz or Reta.

Just look into what you can afford. And trust the studies. They put tons of money into those for a reason!

Start with tirzepatide, then switch to reta if you plateau or have side effects like fatigue that don't go away.

My reasoning: Tirzepatide works really well for many people, and we have years of data on how safe it is. Retatrutide is promising, and I'm sure it'll be proven safe once the clinical trials are done and published. But right now, we don't know for sure.

With GLP-1s being so popular, there's a risk that something unsafe will eventually get out there. We won't know it's dangerous because we won't have enough data yet, but people will want it so badly that they'll use it anyway. And some people might get hurt or even die before we discover the risks.

I think that's going to happen eventually with GLP-1s. Maybe not with tirz, maybe not with reta, maybe not even with the next generation. But I think it's inevitable. So, I prefer to start with the options that have a good track record of safety, while also being effective. Right now, that's tirzepatide.

Both Reta and Tirz stimulate GLP and GIP, which helps with appetite and insulin sensitivity. Reta also has GCGR, which helps you keep muscle and speeds up your metabolism.

You can control how fast you lose weight with both by adjusting the dose. I haven't had issues with losing weight too fast. I've been going pretty hard, but haven't been nauseous. If I'm losing too quickly, I eat more. If I have bad side effects, I lower the dose.

Thanks for the detailed reply! It makes things much clearer. I feel better choosing the GLP that's been tested longer. Good luck with your journey!

I can't wait to not think about food all the time! Haha, I'd do the same thing! How much weight have you dropped in the last year?

Good that the reta is working for you now (even with side effects you can handle)! I might consider it down the road. Thanks, this is great info! I'm sure you'll look amazing at the meeting!

I like Tirz. It's working really well for me. I've lost about 9 pounds so far, and I've only been on it for like a month. I didn't get the nausea that some people talk about, which is great. I'm thinking about adding more peptides later on.

For me, the side effects from high-dose Tirz (above 10 mg) were terrible.

I'd inject it in the evening, and for the next three days I felt awful. I couldn't drink water or eat anything. I still didn't lose weight, and I felt miserable.

Reta, on the other hand, doesn't give me those problems. I increased the dose quickly, from 2 mg the first week to 6 mg on week 6 and 10 mg on week 7 (6 mg on shot day and 4 mg three and a half days later), and I barely had any side effects.

Reta is like magic for me.

I'm 60, 5'0", and 170 pounds. I went from 201 to 170 in 3 months on 2.5 mg of Zepbound each week. I reached my goal right when the tirzepatide started to lose its effect. I switched to 2mg of retatrutide to burn a little more fat while eating plenty of protein.

If you lose 30 pounds, you'll probably have some loose skin. Retatrutide will help you keep a bit more muscle than tirzepatide. I lost a lot of muscle on tirzepatide.

Whatever you do, start with the standard weekly dose and wait a month before raising it. That's how long it takes to build up in your system. Don't overthink it. Let the peptides do their job.

Great!

I hope you have a good experience.

I also started with a really low dose, which might have helped.

I started at 1.25 mg for a couple weeks, then 1.5 mg for a couple weeks, then 2.5mg for a couple weeks. I plan to stay at 2.5 until I stop seeing results.

I started with Tirzepatide because I didn't know about Retatrutide back then and I bought a TON of it to keep in my freezer. LOL

If I was starting now, I'd probably go with Tirzepatide. It's FDA-approved, so I feel less worried about long-term safety, like if I get heartburn or something...

Starting on Tirz isn't a bad idea. It's still less expensive than Reta. I know some people don't care about FDA approval, but if it's important to you, Tirz and Sema are good choices.

Less expensive is debatable. 1200mg of Tirz costs about $.20/mg, while Reta is around $.48/mg.

At the highest doses in the trials, that's only a $2-3 difference per week, if you're buying in bulk to save money. For me, that extra $3 per week is worth it to keep the 6-10 pounds of muscle, since the GCGR in Reta helps protect muscle and gives you more energy for working out.

If I reach my goal weight either way, I'd still have 6-10 pounds more fat with Tirz than with Reta. Plus, it would take time to build that muscle back.

I felt good on Tirz, and I have no regrets about switching to reta.

I haven't tried Reta, but I've used Mounjaro and it was incredible. Semaglutide did nothing for me but Mounjaro was amazing. Life changing, no sides, felt normal, felt like I finally had control.

Reta is meant to be even better... So why not start on Mounjaro and have the ability to step up? I think you can squeeze probably 18 months out of Mounjaro if you keep dosing increases low before shifting to Reta
