Tirz to Reta... advice?

I've had a stellar year on Tirz and plan to keep going. I'm a 50yo woman, down 55 pounds since May, and was on 5mg until recently, now at 7.5 mg.

My husband, 49, started Tirz 4 months ago with no real loss. It gives him a buzz the first few days. He eats pretty well, gets plenty of protein, is active, and his labs/T are fine. He's on 7.5mg Tirz. Should he stop Tirz for a month or two before starting Reta and microdosing? Or start Reta next week?

I'd just quit the tirz and begin Reta at a small dose. The tirz will gradually leave his system. Or add 1mg of Reta a week for a few weeks and see if he feels better.

Thanks! He doesn't go out for lunch. I'm the one with the food vices. He works from home, and I see the credit card activity daily.

Tirz's half-life is about 5 days, cutting the amount in half every 5 days. It takes a month to fully clear. Wait a little while and start Reta at a small dose, like 1 mg, and slowly increase. I cut out junk because I wasn't as hungry. I lost 40 pounds in 6 months with little exercise. It's possible he's a rare case where Tirz doesn't work. If that's the case, slowly stop Tirz and try other GLP's. I added Cagri this week to my Tirz. I plan to switch to Reta in a few months, depending on my progress.

Thank you! I'm wondering if Tirz is a dead end for him. He's a habitual guy. He has a protein shake (with Fairlife milk) and a Perfect bar for breakfast. He has coffee with a couple of tablespoons of creamer in the morning. Lunch is protein (lunch meat), olives, hard cheese, crackers, and peanut butter. Dinner is protein (pork, tacos, fish, or sausage) with a carb and a green veggie. It's about 1600-1800 calories, but he's still hungry after dinner so he will eat Greek yogurt with honey and berries. He wants to lose 30 pounds to get to 180 (he's 6 feet tall). He's a mechanic on his feet for 6-8 hours on work days. Is he eating too little?

I agree that his diet might not be as clean as you think. It's easy for a guy to hide food purchases. I'd increase the Tirz before switching. As far as I know, 7.5mg is the lowest effective dose from the studies. 2.5mg and 5mg are just to lessen side effects. I'm not sure why so many are scared of higher doses.

Hiding stuff from my wife is my favorite hobby.

"What? I've always had that, lol"

What do you mean there are 20 peptide kits in the freezer? Those are just empty vials I'm saving.

Have you calculated his basal metabolic rate? At my height, light activity, and weight, my BMR is around 1,800 calories a day. I'm losing weight on 1,200 calories daily. He needs a calorie deficit.

He shouldn't be hungry on Tirz! I had to lower my dose from 15mg because I wasn't hungry. He needs to increase his dose until he feels appetite suppression and then reduce calories.

This thread is inspiring. My husband stopped tirz because it made him so tired and upset his stomach. He's ready to restart for obvious reasons. Maybe I should get some reta for him?

Has he mentioned whether Tirz had impacted his appetite at all? I’ve had the lethargy from Tirz and recently reduced it whilst adding Reta.

Two ideas:
- Maybe smaller, more frequent doses, like 5mg every 5 days, or 4mg twice per week?
- Or reduce Tirz to 4-5mg once weekly and add in 1mg Reta twice weekly?

To answer Mix_Guy, Reta might be a good option if Tirz's side effects are too much. Some people respond better to one than the other. It's all about finding what works best for his body.

We looked at his BMR last night. It's around 2500 since he's active. So, maybe add more protein?
If he's truly eating 1600-1800 calories and burning 2500, he should be losing weight. Make sure you're tracking everything accurately. Are you weighing his food? Eyeballing portions can be deceiving.

These meds are really something! I started with sema and ended up on tirz. I'm at 7.5 now and doing well. Started at 256, now 158, wanted to be 159 but I'm thinking maybe 145!
