Tirz vial recon jitters!

Hey everyone! So, long story short, I switched from weekly injections of sema to tirzepatide because a friend hooked me up with some 2.5mg doses for a month. It's been okay, but I think I need to level up to at least 5mg tirz now, especially since I was on 1.7mg sema previously. I've been reading that some peeps go even higher than 5mg, but I'm trying to take it slow. If 5mg does the trick, I'll probably just hang out there. So, for the next month, I got a 20mg multi-dose vial of tirz from an online supplier. They seemed like a safer bet than some of the super cheap grey market sources (no crypto for me, thanks!). I'm hoping it's the real deal and works. I'm trying to double-check my math here: if I want a 5mg dose, and I have a 20mg vial, if I add 2 ml of sterile water, will each 0.5ml contain 5mg? That'd be 50 units, right? I used a calculator, and I think it makes sense, but numbers aren't my strong suit. Any advice or tips would be awesome! I'm kinda nervous, especially since I was all set to stay on sema!

Welcome to the club! Sounds like you're on the right track. One thing – double-check the actual mg content per vial based on any lab testing available for that specific batch. Some vendors do this, so compare the tested amount to the expected amount, before deciding how much sterile water to mix in. I'd aim for a draw of 20-40 units per dose. Easier than trying to measure fiddly amounts of bac water multiple times! There are dilution calculators online to help figure it out exactly.

OMG! That dilution calculator is a game-changer. I was getting stressed about potentially needing to draw a massive amount, especially considering that tirz doses seem bigger than sema doses. This makes the process way easier. But, I'm still not sure how precise I can be when measuring the bac water. If the calculator says something like .84 ml, I don't know if I can accurately read that on the syringe when I'm mixing. I haven't actually started yet; I've got all the supplies, just haven't opened anything.

I didn't even think about using AI for the math! I've been avoiding AI for a lot of things, so I totally forgot it's an option, lol.

So, the batch I got tested a little higher than 20mg, and there were like, three different measurements? How do I factor that into my dosing?

Just average the three numbers they gave you. Even if they're all a bit different, the overall result should be around 24mg in your vial.

Just wanted to give you a little update since I've actually done it now! I meticulously double checked everything before starting, got a little freaked out and second guessed myself when I added the bac water because it seemed like SUCH A SMALL amount... but then I rechecked all the math a billion times and realized I'd done it right. Tiny little vial of my tirz! I did my first 5mg dose last Monday. And it's definitely working – I finally hopped on the scale and I'm down about 43 lbs since January. I kind of plateaued around 38 lbs on sema, so I think the switch from 2.5 to 5mg tirz is really making a big difference. Plus, I'm having way fewer side effects than with sema – the nausea isn't nearly as bad as before. I'm hoping I can stay on 5mg for as long as possible to stretch out my supply before I have to order more. This is MUCH cheaper than compounded stuff. So happy!

I'm just thinking we need a separate thread category where newbies like us can freak out and be amazed at how we can potentially have *years* worth of a super expensive medication on hand for so much less, mitigating risks with research, discussion, and careful calculations. I'm feeling all the feels, even though I haven't "done the thing" yet because I still have compounded stuff on hand. I almost started a thread about it, but then I thought, "No, hold on, this is an informational forum."

I can relate! I'm about to hit my first nine pounds lost (out of forty-ish to go), and I'm ecstatic. I've lost weight before, but it required constant effort, and the second I let up, it all came back. For the last few years, I couldn't lose a single pound. It's not menopause-related, I don't think; it's more that I'm in my mid-40s and have gotten used to being kind to myself and indulging in what I want. I don't seem to have the willpower to maintain such tight control anymore, at a time when I desperately need to, because my health is suffering. But now I don't HAVE to struggle so hard, and I have a stockpile of this stuff in the freezer, so I don't have to worry about money issues. I'm feeling incredibly relieved and joyful.

Oh no, you're fine! I'm also pretty new and was being overly cautious, deciding to just piggyback on your thread with my excitement instead of posting my own.

When you get a vial that might be underfilled, do you just reconstitute as if it's correct, or do you adjust based on testing results and hope for consistency?

For those of you reconstituting peptides, have you experimented using acetic acid instead of bac water? I've read it can extend the shelf life, especially for some peptides. Just curious what people's experiences are!

That's awesome progress, Macro_Ready! It's encouraging to hear about your success. Have you noticed any changes in your body composition beyond just the weight loss? Any increase in lean mass with your workouts?

I'm super new to all this... My doctor suggested I try some peptides alongside low dose TRT. Feeling a bit overwhelmed with where to start. Anyone else had experience with peptides and TRT?

I've dabbled in both too. Agree it can be a long game, and the effects are more subtle versus direct replacement. Keep your expectations realistic and you might be pleasantly surprised... or at least not disappointed!

I have mixed feelings about some compounded versions - certain batches feel weaker than others. Plus older vials may have degraded over time. Could be either your dose needs adjustment or you need to switch to a different compound. Wishing you good results either way!
