Tirz woes - 2nd week slump!

Okay, I'm starting to sweat here. My test subject just took their second 5mg dose of tirz. Last week? Amazing. Appetite: GONE. Brain was quiet. She started at 5mg because she was on max dose compounded sema last year, then 5mg compounded tirz -- zero results. So I stopped. Now this. Decided to try again, new source. But this week, she's STARVING. What's up?

Any advice? It was Wednesday evening. Should I give 1mg or 2mg more? Or is that just... too much? Worried about messing things up.

I get those weeks too. I just roll with it. Now, if it happens again next week? I'd probably bump up the dose a little. I also make sure I'm drinking enough water and taking my fiber supplements. That helps a lot. Since you were on Ozempic before, I'd say give it the week, then go up a little on shot day. Let your body adjust. Good luck!

Easy! I'd go to 7.5mg next shot day. But that's just me and my simple brain. I'd wait until the regular injection day, though. Play it safe.

We all know what's up here, you don't have to do the 'research subject' thing anymore. Haha.

Anyway, 7.5mg is usually where people start seeing real results. The usual prescription schedule is 2.5mg weekly for a month, then 5mg weekly for a month, and then 7.5mg.

I'd have stuck to the schedule, but I got lucky and even 2.5mg worked, so I stayed there for a while. Never got past 5mg before switching to reta, and I mostly followed *that* trial schedule.

Just jumping in to say that 5mg is considered a therapeutic dose with Mounjaro.

And the *reason* I'm saying that is because a lot of insurance companies only cover one month of those starter doses (2.5, 7.5, 12.5mg). They're just sticking to the FDA-approved schedule. If you're doing great at a lower dose, getting it approved can be a hassle with overrides.

Here's a tip for anyone worried about insurance coverage: Use auto-fill, especially mail order. And go for 90-day (really 84-day) fills. It's all so automated, less chance for problems. A lot of the initial script checks are done by AI now anyway... let the bots do their thing!

If you're expecting instant results, you're gonna be disappointed.

It's only been two weeks! That's not even enough time for it to fully build up.

You're gonna have good days and bad days. This isn't the last time this will happen. You're gonna have to commit for months, maybe years. Two weeks is NOTHING.

Just stick to the schedule. Stay patient. You'll need it!

Another thing to monitor is prediabetes, high cholesterol, liver values, or blood pressure. Might want to get some blood work with your doctor so you have a baseline.

Some weeks are great, some... not so much. Women's bodies are weird, especially if you're still getting periods.

Now, when the bad weeks *keep* happening, I start to wonder if the vial is bad, not the dose. New vial, sometimes it fixes things.

The medication is the same for everyone. Same chain (afaik). It's more likely your hormones or other things like sleep or stress. Even genetics. Some people see results sooner, some later. That's why the max dose is 15mg! You're nowhere near that yet.

It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day with GLP-1s, but think long-term. Saves your sanity.

Trust the science, give it time, and stop worrying so much. Cortisol makes you hungry!

Totally! It's different for everyone. I've seen people drop like 80-100 pounds in a *year*. That's amazing! Don't compare yourself.

I'm down 30-ish pounds in about 6 months so that is a little under 5 a month. It's slow but it's better than nothing, and I finally feel normal.

What if you're just not losing though? I read a thread about someone who was on Ozempic for a year and didn't lose a single pound. I'd be so frustrated!

Well, it turns out the person not losing weight was eating edibles.

You have to clean up your diet. The medication just helps, it doesn't do *all* the work.

Honestly, if you're taking something for other reasons, and it works... that's fine. But if you're not losing weight on a GLP-1, and you're paying out of pocket, then maybe don't waste the money? Figure out the edibles situation first.
