Travel on GLP-1s: A Win?

Started on Zepbound in June of last year. Been in maintenance probably close to a year now, basically re-comping.

My wife and I decided to book a trip to Italy on a whim, leaving in just over a week. We don't travel much, tbh, but I am so stoked to be in maintenance and looking forward to seeing a new country without the usual dread of "I really should cut down a bit before we leave.“ or “what on earth am I gonna wear when we are there?” I'm just… ready. Not even worried about the long flights or the sore feet from all the walking and sightseeing when we get there. Never been in this place before. Pretty cool.

Italy is gorgeous. Walk a ton, taste all the foods, get yourself a fun outfit to bring home. enjoy life.

This is so true! It's great to see people feeling so good about traveling after weight loss. Remember though, everyone, even on maintenance, it's important to continue healthy habits for long-term well-being!

Guys, does anyone else feel like they'll be on these meds FOR-EV-ER? I swear, I'd get a second job if my insurance stopped covering it! I started at around 300 lbs, type 2 diabetic, completely out of control. Now I'm at 155 lbs and my diabetes is GONE! I've changed everything else in my life, of course, but this med was the catalyst.

I feel you! I've wasted too much of my life obsessing about food. This stuff lets me focus on things that actually matter.

Just a heads up, you're still technically diabetic. The meds are controlling your glucose. If you stop, it WILL go back up. You'll probably need something for the rest of your life.

That's a good point, @Heartxx - so many folks act like this is a "cure", but it's really just management. Still, it's nice to not have to think about food all the freaking time.

Anyone have advice on spacing out doses for maintenance? I've dropped around 95lbs since January. Switching to paying out of pocket so trying to make it last.

If you're not squeamish, some people inject the pen into a sterile vile (you can find them pretty cheap online) and then use insulin syringes to draw out the exact dose.

1mg is the low end of low end for me, not even my maintenance. 2mg is way more standard to start. for real results you'd titrate up from there. relapse risk doesn't matter if you don't lose anything in the first place.

Been off about 4 weeks, haven't regained. Banana breakfast, yogurt lunch, eating half what I used to. Hunger sucks but getting better, no new weight loss, still need to lose more but can't use GLP1 anymore — caused a blockage.

Why would you cycle an SSRI? I'm coming off max dose right now and it's brutal — brain zaps, electric shocks in my head randomly. You either need them or you don't. Cycling is foolish.

Was 56 with crazy joint pain, inflammation, digestion mess, couldn't drop 40 lbs even at 1200 cals. Started this med to get active again and it cleared up almost everything. No more inflammation, pain gone, working out and yoga regular now. Hair came back, skin better. Food noise finally quiet.
