Two Years on Mounjaro - Woah!

So, two years ago today I finally went to my GP, seeking some help with my rapidly worsening pre-diabetes and weight. I ended up walking out with a script for something similar, but I really wanted that other one. He suggested we get some blood work done and switch me over if I was still wanting to.

I kinda count Feb 27th as my real *start* date because there was a period when I transitioned, and I regained a little weight. But Jan 16th was the day I finally decided to get serious!

I was the heaviest I'd ever been: 340ish. My BP was sky-high, and my A1C was at 7.0.

The first 12 months went great, I shed about 90lbs! I was way too obsessed with the scale, though, and would get so down about every tiny increase. But I kept weighing myself every day to get used to it.

The second year was slower. I needed a reality check – nobody can drop 8+ lbs every single month! Despite a few stalls that lasted forever (the worst was two months), I still managed to lose around 55 pounds! The second half of this last year has been about body changes. I didn't lose as many pounds, but I went down clothing sizes so fast. I was mostly an 18, then suddenly I was a 16... then a 14. I probably wore my size 16 jeans for like, a month, lol.

Went from a size 24 (maybe even 26) to size 18 in the first year.

Then from size 18 to size 14 this last year.

Even my shoe size changed! I used to wear a wide 9/9.5, now I'm in a 7/7.5.

My life is so much better. I'm happier and my lab results are all great. My fave change is my face – I look so different! My stomach has shrunk a lot but isn't perfect yet. I'm hoping this next year will be the last year of losing weight. I want to lose another 60 something pounds and I'm going to do it! I'm trying to hit my goal by my birthday in September, but I'll be happy even if it takes longer. Once I get there, I'm treating myself to a serious shopping spree.

Starting weight: 340ish

One year in: 250ish

Now: about 200lbs.

Remarkable success! Isn't the shoe size thing interesting? I can't wear any of my rings now and had to adjust my watch. I'm trying those ring adjuster things. They sort of work. I haven't noticed a change in shoe size thing, so fascinating how we all have different experiences.

Hey Kim1993, good luck on your journey! I'm just starting out this week myself. What's everyone's experience with food? Did you guys find your meals got a lot smaller?

Yep, definitely! I'm eating maybe half of what I used to. The biggest thing is learning to listen to your body and stop when you're full. It's harder than it sounds!

That's great to know! I'm kinda nervous about side effects, but also excited to see some progress.

For those just starting, remember that everyone reacts differently to the initial doses. Some may not notice anything, while others will feel the effects almost immediately. Stay hydrated and be mindful of what you eat to minimize potential nausea!
