Upping my dose - kinda scared!

Hi everyone! Tomorrow's the day I go from 14 to 28 units in week 9, and I'm a bit anxious. It feels like a significant leap. I started at 143 lbs using semaglutide (which I'm paying for myself), and I'm now at 134 lbs, so it's definitely working.

My second daughter arrived last June. I was huge from gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia during a difficult pregnancy... plus, I'm on an antipsychotic that adds around 20 lbs on its own. As a fitness instructor, I've never felt so out of shape, and it's been tough on my mental health. Since starting the medication, I experienced vomiting once after a dose increase and occasional diarrhea (sorry for the overshare!). It's stabilized since then, with no side effects unless I overeat junk food. I'm just nervous but also excited to reach my target weight of 112-115 lbs.

My dose was supposed to double this week, but I only went up a few units. It's working well where I am, and I'm avoiding nausea by making small adjustments.

I've found increasing by just a tiny bit each time helps with the nausea. My telehealth doc recommended that. I also heard that injecting in your thigh might help with side effects? Has anyone tried that?

If the concentration remains the same, doubling the units is equivalent to doubling the dose. That can hit you hard. While there's a standard titration schedule, those large increases can be tough. I advise listening to your body and perhaps taking a slightly smaller increase the first week if you're apprehensive. Since you've been on it for a while, hopefully you won't feel it too much! Fingers crossed! 🤞🤞🤞

Thanks, that's really helpful! I think I will go up by a smaller amount. It's good to know it is ok to not follow it exactly.

I also think people waste a lot of medication. There's often some left in the pen after the last dose. I always get extra needles and use every last bit.

Wow, really? I never thought about that! I'll have to look into getting more needles. Thanks!
