Waking up starving on semaglutide?

Anyone else waking up famished in the middle of the night? I'm on 40 units, that's .8, of semaglutide. Despite a decent supper, I often wake up around 3 AM with intense hunger pains. I've managed to drop around 25 pounds, which is great.

I used to have that problem all the time! Before I started on Ozempic, I'd wake up super hungry and raid the fridge, like a zombie. Now, not so much. Maybe it has to do with blood sugar regulation?

I've noticed I'm way hungrier earlier in the day, but then I have almost zero appetite in the late afternoon and evening, so I tend to eat next to nothing between 2 PM and bedtime. No wonder I'm starving at 3 AM! I'm trying to spread out my calories better. I also heard that waking up around 3 AM is common during perimenopause... and I'm almost 40.

This happens to me now and then, even on a 2.15 dose. I keep water and some juice by my bed, and a few sips usually makes the feeling go away. I would need to be *really* starving to get out of my warm bed at 3 AM!

I started taking Glucomannan capsules before bed, and it's really helped! I'm a terrible nighttime snacker, and I'd definitely recommend them. I take three capsules (one dose, according to the bottle) with a big glass of water about half an hour before bed. The Glucomannan expands in your stomach, so you feel fuller. Plus, it's good fiber! Just don't overdo it, or you could get a bowel impaction.

Yeah, this is actually pretty common with semaglutide, especially in the beginning. The medication suppresses your appetite so much during the day that your body kinda tries to catch up at night. Eating enough protein at dinner (not just a small meal because you're not hungry) helped me, and so did staying hydrated all day. Low electrolytes can also trick you into thinking you're hungry. I started adding electrolyte drops to my water before bed, and it genuinely helped. Not sure if it was the hydration itself or the minerals I was missing, but it's worth a shot. And if it keeps happening, don't fight it too hard. Keep a small high-protein snack ready (like Greek yogurt or a hard-boiled egg) so you're not making bad choices in front of the fridge at 3 AM. It gets better as your body adjusts!

I've noticed some weird side effects.

Ozempic actually changed that for me, I don't wake up to eat at all anymore. I think its a blood sugar thing
I'm not waking up hungry, but my impulse shopping has completely stopped! Like, I don't even think about it anymore. It's like the food noise and the shopping noise disappeared together!

Interesting about the inflammation issues!

My doctor feels inflammation decrease is a central result
My plantar fasciitis, which I've been battling for two years, is suddenly GONE after only a few months on this! Tried so many treatments and nothing worked. It's amazing.

I've also noticed a HUGE difference with my impulse control. I have ADHD, and it's like a switch flipped. Maybe the GLP-1 is helping with that too!
