Weight Comes Back After Stopping GLP-1s?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Not personally, but there are friends and coworkers who've come off and are holding steady. Really varies person to person. Hormonal or metabolic issues make it a lot tougher, though not impossible. Even without those factors, if the original weight came from lifestyle habits or food noise, maintaining afterward can still be a real struggle. Regardless of what actually drove the loss, GLP or otherwise, the body seems wired to defend a higher set point and lean toward regaining.

From what's been seen across various forums and among people known personally, there's usually a rough patch where hunger comes roaring back before eventually settling closer to pre-medication levels. For some, though, that baseline hunger was already rough enough that going back isn't appealing.

Three months off at this point means it should be fully cleared from the system. A small bump on the scale after stopping isn't unusual, since these drugs do a lot for inflammation too. No plans to stop currently, but if it happened, a quick 6lb jump seems likely, matching what happened in reverse at the start.

Most people end up needing more than their old dose just to start losing again. And yeah, most who stop regain the bulk of it back within a year.

Sadly, after a break and restart, most people see slower loss and weaker effects. That doesn't mean it fails, just be more patient, climb back to 15 mg, and count on a slower pace. Still very possible, wishing you the best.

Thanks for voicing what people rarely admit, and so well. Long before Mounjaro or GLP-1s, studies showed that almost everyone who lost substantial weight regained it when tracked for 3-5 years. Anyone who loses a lot on one of these drugs and then quits has simply joined that well-studied, well-known crowd who nearly all regain. Lose a lot on Mounjaro, then stop? The odds of regaining at the 3-5 year mark approach 100%. Just look at the stories people post here daily about life before Mounjaro, how they lost and it always came back. Realistically that is what happens to them too if they stop. You fight a million years of biology, as you said, and most of us lose.
