Weight loss stalled. Help!

I've been on this medication since last November, so around 4 months. I've dropped 28lbs, which I'm super happy about. But, since the end of January, my weight's been stuck, bouncing between the same 1-2lbs. My eating habits haven't changed. I did 7 doses at 2.5mg, then 7 at 3.75mg. Last Saturday, I took my first 5mg shot, and I lost a pound, but it came right back on Monday and has stayed there. It's so frustrating!

I'm eating 1300-1500 calories daily. I'm a shorter, not-very-active woman, so it's a good amount for me, and I feel satisfied. I cook everything myself, so I know exactly what's in it. The only change this week is that I tried that "2-ingredient cheesecake" a few times, but I don't think that's the issue. I still have my usual Biscoff cookies (170 calories) and some vanilla yogurt (130 calories) and reduce my other calories to make up for it.

I feel like I'm wasting money because the meds aren't working anymore. I was doing so well!

If anyone's stuck like this, the plateau playbook the community put together is worth a read

You lost about 30lb, and some amount of that might have been muscle because you didn't strength train and maybe didn't eat enough protein. That can slow down your metabolism. You might need to eat even less to lose weight, but that's bad when you're already eating so little.

Try to get at least 2.5 hours of moderate cardio per week, keep your daily steps above 7,000, and start strength training twice a week to boost your metabolism. Make sure each meal has 20-30 grams of protein.

Don't stress too much! You've lost almost 30lbs already! Weight loss slows. And like everyone has said, you just started 5mg. Give it time to work.

Maybe you're being too hard on yourself about stuff like cheesecake or cookies. Cut yourself some slack. If you're staying within your calorie range, don't stress over every single calorie. If you eat more one day, eat less the next. It's all about lifestyle changes. Obsessing over small slip-ups isn't sustainable! I would also suggest cutting down how often you're weighing yourself to help with that...it sounds like it's just frustrating you. You're seeing normal fluctuations.

Just keep going, but don't stress about it. Almost 30 pounds since November is amazing! Add some strength training, but remember it's a marathon, not a sprint.

Don't just focus on the scale; take body measurements too. The scale might not move, but you could still be losing inches. I didn't see the scale move for a while, but my measurements were going down. I started in December at 275, and I'm at 250 this morning. I also don't count calories.

You guys are right, I am being impatient. It took time to gain the weight, it will take time to get it off. Thanks for keeping it real.

That timing could totally be the culprit - hormones mess with everything! Don't let the scale get in your head. Composition shifts happening underneath even if weight stays put, which gets you closer to your target anyway.

I started around the same time and have also been stalled for weeks. I was told it might be my body adjusting to my new size. I also stopped taking BP meds around the time it started. I did 4 weeks at 2.5mg and 8 weeks on 5mg. I tried 7.5mg, but I felt sick, so I'm at 6mg. I'll probably try 7.5mg again for my next shot.

You just have to wait it out. Getting into the next "decade" of weight is really hard. Just keep doing what you're doing, and you'll get there. Five mg can take 2-3 weeks to fully kick in.

You're doing great! How much water are you drinking? I've been stuck for weeks, but I'm trusting the process. I've lost 36.5kgs since starting. Your cheesecakes are exactly what you needed. It also wouldn't have mattered if you'd had them as extra calories. Treats are good for the soul!

You've been on the higher dose for a week. It takes about a month for a new dose to build up in your system. Give it time!

You've also lost a lot of weight in a short time. Your body probably needs a break to adjust.

Try to adjust your mindset so you can handle the stalls along the way. They are normal!

I totally get that feeling, but many people find their bodies adapt over time, and that's why increases are necessary. Don't give up yet!

Did you calculate your TDEE? Maybe you're not eating *enough* calories??

That's a good point! I'll check that now. I haven't recalculated since I started losing. Maybe I need to eat more to stoke the furnace? Thanks!
