Weird Hunger Changes on GLP-1s?

Okay, so before starting on Ozempic, I could easily skip breakfast and wouldn't feel hungry until noon or 1 PM. Now that I'm on it, I get these intense hunger pangs in the morning, but not at any other time of day. Has anyone else experienced this? It's so bizarre and doesn't make any sense. It's supposed to make you less hungry, right?

I used to never eat breakfast for decades, but now I make sure to get at least 20 grams of protein within 30 minutes of waking up. It really helps me wake up and feel more alert. I either grab a pre-made protein shake with 30g, or have an egg white breakfast wrap. I then repeat that process about 3 hours later. It's an easy way to get over 100g of protein daily.

I've also noticed that my cravings have totally changed since starting. I used to crave junk food all the time, but now I actually want fruits and veggies. It's so weird!

That's great! Lean protein, fiber, and natural carbs are exactly what you need. If you ever decide to stop the meds, you should have an easier time maintaining because you've retrained your taste buds.

I used to have so much "food noise" in my head, constantly thinking about what I was going to eat next. Since starting, that's completely gone. Didn't realize how much of a problem it was until it disappeared.

Hey The-AF, that's an interesting point. I hadn't thought about "food noise" before, but I think that's what I was experiencing too! It's so much quieter now, except for these morning hunger pangs lol.

GLP-1 hunger signaling gets recalibrated - the days-without-eating signal is the ghrelin suppression pattern in reverse.

Protein intake as the lever for managing the hunger pattern changes on Ozempic is the practical solution that works alongside the medication. The shift in baseline hunger timing is a known effect and it does feel strange when the previous patterns are gone. How much protein are you hitting daily and has the pattern stabilized yet?
