What calorie cutbacks are you doing?

I had a TDEE-500cal cut until I got to 1500. If I dipped under 1500, I started feeling weak and tired in past experiences.

I'm eating 1350-1400kcal per day, with some days higher because of eating out or socializing. Averaging at 1400kcal... which is weird. I'm losing 0.6kg/week (1.3lbs) right now. But that implies a deficit of 700kcal, meaning my maintenance would be 2100kcal. I'd love if my maintenance was that high... short people problems. I'll go into maintenance around the end of December, so I'll figure it out then.

If I believe my data, my maintenance calories would be 1500kcal... But as I stated before, I'm losing 1.3lb/week on 1400kcal/day, which suggests 2100kcal maintenance. The math isn't working out! Has anyone else had conflicting data when looking at different sources?

My app says I'm in a 3500+ calorie a day cutback. I'm 6'4", down to 240 lbs now (was 320, started meds at 300), and eat 1700-2100 calories each day. I'm averaging 230g protein with 45g fiber. I'm losing about 6lbs a week, and I'm on 7.5mg/week now. I've made big changes to my diet and exercise. I eat super clean, and walk 20 miles every day now, burning 2400 calories just walking. I have a walking desk treadmill, so I walk almost 7 hours while working and on the weekends. I couldn't have this size of cutback without walking so much. My doctor knows about my loss rate/exercise/diet, and he said to keep going. I expect it to slow as I approach 175lbs.

Wait, we're tracking that? I started around 420lb about 2 months ago. I started with meds and did 2mg for 3 weeks, 4mg for 3 weeks, and am now on week 2 of 6mg. I have to remember to eat. I used to be hungry all the time and would snack non-stop. Now I have some protein in the morning and supper around 6pm. Sometimes I have a small lunch but I'm usually not hungry. If I had to guess, I'd say like 1200-1800 calories depending on the day. No complaints other than the heartburn. Down about 25 pounds so far, and I think some of that was water weight.

I'm not counting. When I count calories, I lose my mind and barely lose weight. I try to eat max 2 meals, maybe a snack. A lot of water. Doing that, I've steadily lost about 3 lbs a week.

When I began the compound, the telehealth provider suggested 1500-1900 calories a day, with 100g of protein. I tracked religiously for a while, it just got exhausting. My meds have dramatically curbed my appetite, and as I've lost weight, I don't track as much anymore. It's not sustainable long-term for me. I just eat intuitively now.

I hear you. I just try to eat regular meals throughout the day, focusing on protein and veggies. I'll only track it if I feel like I've stalled or something.

I'm newly on these meds, and I'm finding I can't handle certain foods. Anyone else notice that? I've had to cut out fried stuff completely. I ate some wings the other night, and paid for it later!

Oh yes! Greasy foods are a no-go for me now. I have to be careful about portion sizes too. Even if it's healthy food, eating too much at once makes me feel sick.

I've found that I can only really stomach plain carbs, at least for now, so I'm mostly eating toast, oatmeal, and bananas. Is it normal to only want sweet bland food?

Yeah, that's not uncommon when you start these meds. It should pass after a bit. Focus on protein drinks if you can't handle real protein right now.

processed sugar in your diet before? what you're describing sounds exactly like breaking an addiction—sugar absolutely is one. took me 6 months to clear my head after quitting smoking 20+ years back.

dairy, gluten, soy, eggs, refined sugar — those were my biggest inflammation culprits. i couldn't understand the night pain till i cut them. my joints hurt so bad i couldn't work. aip made a huge difference. turns out living in pain wasn't just 'how it is.'
