Two days in, some early replies arrived by WhatsApp and DM rather than in the thread — which is fine, but it means the public numbers are thin. So let me put up something concrete first, and then ask again.
What I actually found when I went looking for the same number on my own stock
I pulled every certificate we hold and sorted our own catalogue by $/mg instead of by vial price. Three things jumped out that I had not expected:
One line per purchase, four fields, no vendor name needed:
Why I want the measured mg and not just purity
Purity and content answer different questions and the forum keeps mixing them. Purity (HPLC area %) says how much of what is in the vial is the right molecule. Content says how much peptide is in the vial at all. A 10mg label that tests at 8mg and a 10mg label that tests at 14mg are two different products at the same price. When someone posts "99.6% purity, great batch" without the mg, it tells you nothing about whether you got what you paid for.
If you have ever asked a vendor for a certificate and got a photo of someone else's logo on it — that is the other half of this. A purity number with no lot code and no lab name is not a data point, it is decoration.
What you get back
I will compile everything into one anonymous table — compound, size, $/mg, shipping, purity, measured mg — with the vendor column stripped out, and post it in this thread. Not in my vendor folder, here, where it can be argued with.
If you would rather not post publicly, message me and I will include the row without your name. If you post a certificate with the lot code visible I will read the actual numbers off it for you and tell you what they mean, whatever vendor it came from.
And if you think $/mg is the wrong metric to be optimising, say so in the thread. I would rather find that out now.
What I actually found when I went looking for the same number on my own stock
I pulled every certificate we hold and sorted our own catalogue by $/mg instead of by vial price. Three things jumped out that I had not expected:
- The same compound can be 3x apart inside one catalogue. Our tirzepatide runs from $6.70/mg at the 10mg vial down to $3.93/mg at the 60mg. Same supplier, same lab, same peptide. The only difference is how much you buy at once. Anyone quoting a single "tirz is $X/mg" number is quoting a size, not a product.
- $/mg gets worse, not better, at the small end — and people buy the small end. The 10mg vial is the worst value per milligram in almost every compound, and it is the one people start with because they are not sure yet. That is exactly where the effective markup hides.
- Two vials with the same $/mg can be completely different risk. We have a 10mg tirzepatide certificate that came back at 94.95% purity and 14.15mg measured content — a 141.5% overfill. The buyer paid for 10mg and got 14mg of a 95% pure product. By $/mg that looks like the best deal on the page. It is not the same product as a 99.97% lot at 10.0mg, and no price table will ever tell you that.
One line per purchase, four fields, no vendor name needed:
- compound + vial mg
- what you paid per vial, USD
- shipping in or not
- if you have a certificate: purity % and measured mg in the vial
tirz 60mg | $236 | ship included | 99.968% | 60mg lot. That is $3.93/mg. Our reta 10mg is $11.00/mg, our sema 10mg is $5.40/mg, and yes, those two are worse value per milligram than the large tirz vials — I am not going to hide the unflattering rows. Why I want the measured mg and not just purity
