I heard from the manufacturer not to refrigerate. I put it in a closet with towels.

Benzyl alcohol is more stable at room temperature, degrades faster otherwise.

Poked or not, keep it dark and dry at room temp. But the pep needs to be in the fridge.

Been wondering... Compounding places don't even use bacteriostatic water. Where'd we get the idea it's best?

Sterile places don't gain much from BAC, might even cost more. For us, BAC stops bad stuff from growing if it gets in there during mixing. It won't kill everything, but it helps. We aren't mixing in sterile labs.

I think this is mistaken. Some compounding pharmacies use BAC water. Plain sterile water does not stop bacteria as well. Benzyl alcohol helps with that.

Hey, I have a box of 25 vials of bacteriostatic water in a delivery warehouse in the US. I can't ship it outside the US. If you want it, I can send it without downpayment. The carriers can't take it out of the USA and it'd be a waste.

When I used a compounding pharmacy, the vial said: "tirz, benzyl alcohol in sterile water for injection". Use by date was a year away. Look at the Eli Lilly Tirz pen ingredients. It has Benzyl, and other stuff for pH, saline, etc. Vax are shipped freeze-dried. The pharmacist mixes. Single use needs no benzyl. Multi-use needs preservative.
