Zepbound ➡️ grey market tirz?

Ok so back in late 2024 my doc put me on Zepbound and it was awesome. I was eating healthy, at the gym like every day, and went from like 350lbs to 200lbs in like 9 months. But around summer 2025 my insurance stopped covering it and I had to switch to Wegovy. Wegovy wasn't the same for me, I started getting food cravings again. Then at the end of 2025 they stopped covering all GLP's so my doc started weening me off, and now I'm almost done with my last dose but I'm back up to 230lbs... After these last couple shots of Wegovy I want to go back to Tirz.

Thanks!

I've been using Tirz (grey market) and it's great. My insurance actually JUST approved me for Zepbound, and I've got like two years worth of Tirz sitting in my freezer, lol. I'm just gonna keep it in case I lose coverage again. It's been working really well for me. Honestly, I could have paid for compound or even direct from the source, but I like the grey market and doing my own reconstituting.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like getting back on a GLP is super important for you! Do some research ASAP and find a good source.

Good luck!

Don't give up yet, Sub_Donut137. My insurance was only charging me like $30 for a 3 month supply of Zepbound or Wegovy. My doctor wasn't really helping fight for it. They switched me to Wegovy and I waited a month. Then my body composition data from my smart scale showed what was happening. I was losing weight steadily on Zep and totally stalled on Wegovy.

I took that data, and my history of sleep apnea and afib, to an online appeals service. It cost me a little money (less than $10) and they generated a HUGE appeal and sent it to my insurance and drug plan.

I got denied right away.

I went back, uploaded the denial, and used the free 2nd appeal. The paperwork they sent out was insane. The service sent it to everyone... insurance, plan admin, work HR, and even government agencies.

Within a week my insurance said they were going to arbitration.

The next day I got a document from the arbitration firm saying the insurance company was wrong and had to reverse their decision.

Two weeks later I got a notice from my insurance company that they were extending my approval for another year.

I got 3 months of Zepbound the next day.

Soooooo do the math. If insurance is cheaper, try an appeals service.

I was on Zepbound for 1 year, lost 100lb then CVS switched me to Wegovy. Lost another 10lb. Went to compounded tirzepatide for a few months and lost about 5lb and am at my goal weight. Just placed my first grey order of tirzepatide based on advice I've seen here. Excited to save serious cash.

I think tirzepatide was better than wegovy but it's hard to say for sure since I was further along in my weight loss journey.

I started T60 last Thursday at the starting 2.5mg dose but I still have 1 Wegovy 0.25mg pen left. Can I use it today?

I'm not a doctor but I wouldn't mix them. Talk to your prescribing physician about the best course of action. Overlapping medications can be dangerous.

I read a lot about people switching from sema to tirz. Some folks say they have different side effects. Like, some people who didn't get nausea on sema get it on tirz, and vice versa. But lots of people prefer tirz, so hopefully it works out for you!

I saw one guy on the other forum say that even a high 5mg dose of tirz barely outperformed 1mg of Ozempic for A1c reduction, but a 15mg dose did significantly better. That's interesting.

on wegovy for 11 months at 1.7 and wasn't losing much—maybe a kilo a month. tried 2.4 but felt sick. switched to mounjaro in february, did two weeks at 2.5 then four weeks at 5mg. last week I felt like I'd die—couldn't eat, throwing up, diarrhea all night. dropped to 2.5 for a week, felt nothing, went back to 5 and same thing. got a doc appt next week, thinking about going back to wegovy.

where you inject doesn't matter, i was on wegovy for a while and just switched. shot belly, arms, both legs — no difference. move it around but stay on the lowest dose as long as it works. hungry some days and not others is pretty normal. if you think something works it works.

working with the public, you hear ridiculous stuff all day - from customers and coworkers too. tried buying snap 8 a couple days ago but haven't gotten a total back. was gonna add tb500 and maybe some botox stuff too. might be a sign to wait.
