Would you classify yourself as overweight or in the obese range? Given reta started two months back, I'm guessing there's weight to shed here. The starting A1C leaned a bit elevated, borderline prediabetic territory, and combined with moderately raised triglycerides, that pattern points toward metabolic syndrome.
The rest of the lipid panel, LDL especially, probably carries more weight long term for cardiovascular risk and whether statins become necessary. A triglyceride number that's only mildly elevated on its own usually doesn't need aggressive treatment beyond maybe a fish oil supplement or a prescription omega-3. My guess is staying on reta and continuing to lose weight will keep bringing those numbers down naturally. Just keep an eye on blood pressure too.
Reta's already pulled you out of prediabetic range, and while I haven't seen dedicated research on reta specifically preventing diabetes, possibly because it hasn't been studied yet, tirz has shown remarkable results making that progression from prediabetes to full diabetes unlikely, and reta's mechanism suggests it could match or even exceed that. On that basis alone, staying the course with reta seems well worth it.
