Workout routines on GLP-1s?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Great progress! Do you have a consistent routine you've been following alongside the medication? Curious what's been working for you.

The glucagon effect on energy output during workouts is one of the more interesting differences between GLP-1 and dual or triple agonists - it shifts the fuel balance in a way that makes cardio feel different in particular. Any RHR changes at your current dose worth noting?

Tracking and maintaining a routine before optimizing the content of the routine is the right sequence. The OP noticing how much better exercise feels on these meds is exactly the opening for building that structure. Calorie deficit too aggressive for too long is the other thing that shows up - exercise output increases while intake drops further than intended, and that combination can actually slow things rather than accelerate.

Not the original poster, but curious myself, how long does that low-energy phase typically stick around? Was just getting back into a workout groove right as I started this medication, and it's been quite an adjustment.

I'm way more mobile since starting. Carrying less mass just makes everything easier to move around. Such a liberating feeling, running around without wearing out so fast!

Do people realize the body already makes its own version of this hormone naturally? Relying on medication for weight loss isn't strictly necessary. For managing diabetes, sure, absolutely, but shedding weight without it isn't impossible either. Every time I bring up staying active and eating well, people get defensive, seems like nobody wants to hear about actually getting up and moving. And yes, strength training should be part of this regimen anyway since these medications do break down muscle over time.

Yes. Skipped exercise entirely when I first started this drug class since exhaustion and rough side effects had me wiped out. Once that settled down, I got serious about training four to five times weekly. Genuinely helps my mental health too.
