Scared of hitting a weight-loss limit

Dealing with an autoimmune thyroid condition here. Started this medication three years back at 284 pounds. Lost 145 pounds total and have maintained that for over a year now. Peak dose reached was 10mg.

    Reta: Effects on booze?

Still drink occasionally on this medication. Capped at 1-3 though, just genuinely don't want more than that. Strange side effect too, feels like getting less drunk overall. A couple drinks with nothing else in the stomach used to hit hard, yet somehow it barely registers now. Still smoke...

OMG - I hit my goal!!

The 'take advantage of your new life' framing after 90 lbs is exactly right. 245 down to 160 in 11 months is not something you just forget how to do. The habits that developed while the medication was suppressing appetite tend to stick better than people expect.

Sweet cravings on tirzepatide? Anyone else?

5mg every 6 days with minimal cravings and satisfaction from meals is the target state. The every-6-days schedule instead of weekly is a small adjustment that makes a real difference for a lot of people. The OP's sweet cravings at 3.5mg is the kind of thing that often resolves as the dose climbs.

    Almost at my goal weight!

230 to 165 on keto and then the 'probably another 30 from there' never materializing until now is such a common experience. 5'7" and female at 130 is a real lower bound to think carefully about - body composition matters more than the number at that point. The 135 floor the OP is approaching is...

7+ months in - slow but steady!

Solid progress is exactly right! The first weeks finding your footing are just part of it and a pound a week from there is genuinely the sweet spot for sustainable loss. The 20 lb first month stories are almost always water weight. Keep going exactly like this.

Sema or Tirz: Which to try first?

The affinity versus efficacy distinction is worth understanding before drawing conclusions from binding data - a drug can have high receptor affinity but partial agonist activity once bound. High receptor occupancy tells you about binding, not about what happens after.

Anyone else notice a mental shift?

Noticing eating steadily declining and then finding weight went up from the prior week is the water retention or muscle building pattern that makes the scale a lagging indicator. The OP's mental shift thread is about the change in the relationship with food - and eating declining automatically...

    Stacking Tirz and Reta? Thoughts?

Cross stacking is a really useful way to frame it. Coming down on the Tirz as the Reta ramps up rather than running full doses of both simultaneously is the approach that tends to work best. The maintenance split of 4mg Tirz and 8mg Reta is a good end-state to keep in mind when figuring out...

    9 months on GLP-1 - my journey!

179 to 156 in 13 weeks at max 2mg and 4mg proving too much is a clean dose ceiling story. The OP's 9 months and 15 more since the last check-in shows what consistent progress at the right dose looks like over time. Are you staying at 2mg for the long run or reconsidering the 4mg experiment once...

Tirz and Tesa - anyone else?

15kg since February at 4mg and still moving is a great response without pushing the ceiling. The OP's 7.5mg after starting in June is earlier in the titration and the results are already showing. The tesa interest at 61 is the lean mass preservation question that becomes more relevant as the...

    Thigh injection spot?

Anti nausea just in case is smart for the first few tries. Thigh is generally more forgiving than stomach - less nausea for most people and the needle just finds less resistance there. No pain on insertion is pretty common once you get the angle right.

    Upping dose, still lazy!

Down 35 lbs since March and working out twice a day is the version where the medication cleared enough space to actually want to move. The OP feeling great but not yet hitting the gym is a different but equally valid stage. The lazy feeling on these meds sometimes resolves when the dose goes up...

    Down 36lbs - can't believe it!

190 to 154 with 20 more to the goal is where the rate slows and the photo log becomes the most useful tool.

    Hunger's Back?!

Hunger returning at a year usually means receptor adaptation - most people adjust dose or interval at that point.

    Tirzepatide and wicked acid reflux?

The acid reflux follows gastric motility slowing - delayed emptying means food and acid sit longer in the stomach, especially lying down. Eating earlier and elevating the head are the two adjustments most people use.

    Spacing out doses?

I tried spacing my doses out to every 10 days gradually, and I ended up developing a tolerance and gaining some weight back. Going back to every 7 days and increasing my dose a little helped me lose the weight again.

Ozempic costs more than my car payment!

Doesn't make sense—they're supposedly the same drug but Wegovy's not touching me. Lost over 20 on Ozempic but insurance wouldn't cover it. Switched to Wegovy, started at 1.7 since I'd done 1mg Ozempic, now at 2.4. Nothing. Not hungry, not overeating, just disappointed.

    Ozempic fridge check: Week 2

When it gets too cold your needle runs super slow. Check fridge temp and maybe pull the pen out 30 mins before injecting.

    Down 50 pounds woah!

Down 111 lbs and it's been wild. The good stuff: totally different relationship with clothes now, flying is way easier on my body, all my markers are solid. The rough part: hard surfaces hurt, I get cold way faster. Curious what others didn't expect when they dropped serious weight.
