10 Week Mounjaro Update - An Average Experience

Hey folks! I know some of you read my earlier posts about responder types and my initial month results. I wanted to share my experience as someone who's having pretty average results. Seems like we mostly hear extremes, so I figured a middle-ground perspective might be helpful. Especially for those just starting out, or those who feel a little 'meh' about their rate of loss. So here's my 10-week update. I'm a 31-year-old woman, started at 240.8 pounds.

- Currently at 222.4 lbs, so a drop of 18.4 lbs, averaging 1.75 lbs per week.
- I'm eating around 1300 calories daily, give or take.
- I focus on decent food choices – fiber, protein, etc. I'm not into labeling foods as 'good' or 'bad'. I just try to eat smaller portions of what I enjoy.
- I'm on 7.5mg and plan to stay here. My appetite suppression feels good and manageable.
- I get a little nausea or sulphur burps the day or two after my dose. Some Pepto usually fixes it.
- HUGE NSV alert! It's so much easier to make good choices. I'm hitting the gym early now. I used to snooze until the last minute before work (WFH life). My motivation is way up, plus I'm sleeping better from waking up early and wearing myself out. Gym six days a week, dog walks twice a day. Around two hours of activity most days.

At first, watching people drop weight like crazy was discouraging. But I've realized the slower pace is because I was already making pretty good choices, just struggling with consistency.

I remember a post about someone losing like 30 lbs in two months. Turns out they stopped drinking a bottle of wine every night after starting. Of course they saw massive results! Probably had a ton of inflammation.

I think my loss is slower since I was already somewhat active and didn't drink much. It just shows you can't compare your journey to anyone else's.

I'm trying to be patient with myself now. The time will pass anyway, and any progress is good. The big thing? I've lost weight before, but always gained it back because I felt like I had to be extreme and then would burn out. I don't feel that way on Mounjaro. I know what to do to lose weight, it just makes the right choices easier.

Hope this helps someone!

I've been taking this for 2 years now. Let's rewind to Feb-May of this year.

My body just started craving less processed food and wanted cleaner eating. It was wild. This happened in the first three months. Protein was hard to get enough of.

I felt hopeful for the first time. I didn't know this was a 'long game' sort of thing.

After 2 years – play the long game. Don't stress about the number on the scale. Rock the clothes you have as long as you can. I bought new sizes too early. Thrift stores and Poshmark are great for building your wardrobe on the cheap or bridging the gap.

You can't really know what you'll look like in a few years, so be patient. Don't beat yourself up over slip-ups. Celebrate small wins. NSVs are the best. Like when my phone stopped recognizing my face!

Same here. Average responder. Week six, down about 1.4 lbs weekly. I'm totally okay with this if it keeps up. Plan is to stay on 2.5mg as long as it helps my T2D.

Another average responder checking in! I’ve dropped 120lbs over 20 months, but the average loss has slowed to a crawl lately (used to be 1.5lbs, now barely 0.5). I’ve adjusted my calorie deficit, upped my exercise, and added strength training, but the scale is being stubborn.

It’s nice to see a post like this because, even after almost two years, the rapid loss posts still get to me. I try to remember the downsides of fast weight loss and not compare myself since everyone's different.

Thanks for the detailed update! I'm a similar height and work out 5 days a week. I eat way more to keep up my strength while cutting -- only 4 weeks in, its crazy how different everyone's experience is. I'm curious to see what happens when I increase my dose! Thanks for sharing.

Oh man… fellow average responder here… appreciate this!

I know my eating habits are improving, so I’m sticking with it… but man, I wish I saw some of those quick results!

Week 10 is a real milestone. It's when things start to click instead of feeling like random side effects. That morning energy boost is common on tirzepatide. People think it's just the appetite suppression, but it's likely a metabolic shift and better blood sugar control overnight that helps you wake up feeling refreshed. When your glucose isn't all over the place while you sleep, you naturally sleep better and wake up more alert.

Staying hydrated and on top of electrolytes really helped me around that stage. Mounjaro can deplete your sodium and magnesium, especially if you're eating less. I started using these mineral drops I add to my water bottle in the morning – no flavor, no sugar. It made a big difference in how sustained my morning energy felt. The 'average responder' thing can be misleading. Week 10 changes are often behavioral instead of just about the scale, and those changes tend to stick better than the early big drops. Keep a log of how you feel, not just the numbers.

I actually gained like 2 pounds in my first two months on 2.5mg, but my blood sugar is way down! I'm so happy. I just went up to 5.0 yesterday.

I've been having CRAZY food dreams lately! Anyone else? Last night I dreamt I was at a buffet, eating all the garlic bread I could get my hands on. I've lost almost 215 pounds and I'm only 20 pounds from my goal weight! During the day I am fine, but at night... It's wild!

Thanks for this, @Zara56. I hadn't thought about electrolytes, but it makes sense. Maybe that's why I'm feeling so tired in the afternoons. I'll give the drops a try.

I also noticed weird dreams after starting this medication. I wasn't sure if it was the meds, or just because I'm sleeping better and dreaming more because of my OSA being under control.

Has anyone tried Ipamorelin for sleep? I've been reading about it, and some people say it improves sleep quality. I'm curious if anyone has experience with it, especially with Mounjaro.

I have not personally, but I've read that growth hormone treatments can be a mixed bag when it comes to sleep. Some studies show improvements, others show it can actually make sleep worse. So it seems like it can be pretty individual.

Freelance writing gig in NM, two cats, gym three days a week. Why are you raising the dose that fast? Was your doc the one who set that plan? I just started 0.25 mg, on my 4th shot, staying here longer because I've got stuff happening and can't be sidelined by side effects.

Super sensitive stomach from no colon — been on semaglutide 16 months, lost 44 lbs on 0.5mg. Tried going higher and threw up without nausea. Stuck at 0.5mg but it's helped my thyroid inflammation so doc keeps me here. Not everyone can do 'therapeutic' doses and that's fine if your doc's supportive.

Vegetarian here and getting way more protein now than before. Used to have pasta no protein like 5-6 times weekly. Now eating tofu, chickpeas, legumes, Greek yogurt, Fairlife, good cottage cheese. Getting roughly 65-70g protein daily. Don't like eggs but eat fish sometimes. Shrimp's surprisingly high protein for the calories.

From my experience with Stelo and Lingo the numbers vary. Week one of Stelo reads much higher than week two. Lingo runs about 10-15 lower than Stelo. Stelo felt off to me but Lingo seems more solid so far.
