2.5mg still working after months?

It's been about 5 months since I started on Mounjaro at 2.5mg, and I'm actually struggling to eat enough. Food isn't appealing, and it feels like a chore to eat. The doc has suggested spreading out my doses because I'm losing weight faster than expected. My glucose is fine, but I'm afraid I'm not getting the right nutrients. Any advice?

Try sipping on some good quality bone broth between meals and add a quality collagen supplement to your diet. That should help!

I'm two months into 2.5mg as well, and I've lost around 13 pounds. I'm happy with how steady the weight loss is going!

That's fantastic progress over 5 months. I'm in my second month on 2.5mg, and I'm not sure if I should increase the dose. I'm not losing weight extremely fast, but my appetite is definitely suppressed. I'm averaging approximately a pound a week.

What's your rate of loss per week or month?

I haven't needed them personally, but have you considered nutrient-rich drinks like Ensure or Boost to see if they are palatable?

If your insurance covers it, maybe consult with a registered dietician or nutritionist for specific suggestions for your nutritional needs.

I'm concerned about your muscles and bones. I hope that you are lifting weights to strengthen them.

I dropped about 40 pounds of my total 50-pound loss while on 2.5mg. Stay at a low dose and take it slow. Great job!

This week, I plan on waiting 9 days between shots instead of 7. My doctor actually suggested that I wait longer. I had a complete blood panel done a couple of weeks ago. I never thought I'd be losing weight too quickly!

It took me almost 7 months to lose a similar amount (just 10 lbs shy of my goal). I was on 2.5 almost the entire time, except for week 5 when I went up to 5mg and experienced the same lack of appetite you're describing. There was a shortage of Zepbound, but after 10 days, I found Mounjaro in 2.5mg pens. I switched back to Zepbound 3 months into maintenance when LillyDirect offered vials for much cheaper. Eventually, I did increase to 5mg because food started tasting too good again, ha! I've been maintaining for 17 months now. Just follow your doctor's advice and space out your doses.

Plus, you are losing weight at a healthy rate too. I would recommend staying on 2.5mg as long as possible.

It's great that you're listening to your body and your doctor. I've seen so many people get caught up in rapid weight loss and not focus on the nutritional aspect. Keep prioritizing those nutrients!

I remember when I started, I didn’t even really notice the changes at first. I would just be thinking about food way too much. Starting a diet every Monday, promising myself I'd be disciplined this time. Then life would happen and I would be eating some extra burgers in the car. Disgusted with myself!

That's interesting Nicky2008. I've heard some people describe the medication as "quieting the food noise" in their heads. It's like they're not constantly preoccupied with thoughts of food.

Yes! I bought a chocolate bar the other day and only ate one piece! Normally I'd eat the whole thing, feeling guilty and weak. Now I feel such relief and feel like a normal person. I never thought of myself as a binge eater, but I guess I was.
