Accidentally ate too much 😫

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Heavy burping here too zero appetite. A teacup size was my max before the stomach under my ribs got sore. Hydrate plenty and expect dry mouth. Nausea means ate too much so figure your portion limit. Sleep more is also typical.

Always had trouble with spending. Since starting mounjaro it's gotten way worse and I know that. Still doing it though. Couldn't even cover rent yesterday, only gave half and he wasn't pleased.

Nausea after overeating in week 2 is partly the medication doing its job - the gastric motility slowdown means the stomach takes longer to process the volume, and larger portions amplify the discomfort. Small portions eaten slowly, then waiting before seconds, is the pattern that prevents most of it.

GI sensitivity at 0.25mg is usually about portion triggers, not baseline nausea. Smaller portions are the reset.

Warm broth or ginger tea in small amounts helps move nausea through faster than waiting it out - and tracking portions for the next few days resets the baseline.

Protein and fiber as the base is right - carb-heavy meals are the biggest trigger for GLP-1 nausea, especially early on. Intermittent fasting timing helps too by keeping the stomach lighter during the peak nausea window.

The nausea after overeating is the feedback signal most people on GLP-1s need at least once - the stomach actually processes food more slowly on the medication, so a standard-size meal that was normal before becomes too much. Small portions with a wait period before eating more is the adjustment that prevents it from repeating.

The side effect variation across people is real enough that one person's 'stay home for days' experience doesn't predict your own at all. Worth having a low-stakes day planned for the first injection or first dose increase, not because it will definitely be rough but because you won't know which responder type you are until after.

the reverse approach to food commentary is genuinely satisfying to imagine - the 'but your medication' framing as a deflection for normal eating is as reductive as any other oversimplification of how these medications work. the most useful response to unsolicited commentary about what you eat is usually whatever ends the conversation fastest

the nuts-and-dried-fruit kit for portable nausea management is a well-calibrated combination - the fat in the nuts produces a gastric stabilization effect and the small volume of food is enough to settle the stomach without triggering the overfull response that makes nausea worse. keeping something like this on hand during the first weeks at a new dose or on injection day is one of those small protocol adjustments that makes a consistent difference

Definitely. Nausea was brutal in those early 0.25mg weeks, but it eased up after a few months. Still showed up whenever I pushed myself to eat more, went to Japan on vacation wanting to really enjoy the food and ended up feeling pretty rough. Started prioritizing protein and steering clear of fried or greasy stuff, which made a real difference. Wishing you luck on this journey! Completely worth it.

Lean into the nausea instead of fighting it. Accept it's there. Make peace with the discomfort. It'll eventually pass or at least become tolerable. Stay hydrated. Prioritize protein. Pause and ask whether actual hunger is driving the urge to eat, or just habit.

Brace yourself to eat noticeably smaller portions than before! Also ginger gum or lozenges work great for me, settles my stomach fast whether it's nausea or just feeling bloated, so I always keep some around now. Good luck with everything!
