Anyone else a slow loser?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Four stone with four to go is real progress regardless of pace - and the face change at six months is the one that tends to catch people off guard first. Slow doesn't mean it isn't working; different baselines and titrations just produce different timelines. The ones who start slower often stay more consistent anyway.

Food noise down in week one and still able to eat what you enjoy just getting full faster is actually a really balanced early response. Not overweight going in means the loss goal is smaller but the medication can still do its job on the appetite side while you work toward the 5kg. How does the fullness feel - does it kick in during eating or before?

That line about healthy food not sounding good as the hunger litmus test is one of the most useful things to internalize. The slowing down piece that happens once you're applying it is real - eating when you actually need to versus when food noise is calling is a completely different pattern.

The standard titration schedule exists for a reason and the early weeks are genuinely not the ones to evaluate efficacy from - hunger suppression and the metabolic changes that drive loss take several weeks to establish at each dose level. Reaching a conclusion about whether the medication works at week 3 is not the same as reaching that conclusion at week 8-10. Most slow or non-responders at early doses see a different picture once they are at a higher and stabilized dose

The hunger vs noise distinction is genuinely hard to make when you're in it. The 'if healthy food sounds unappealing it might be noise' test is one people land on a lot here and it does seem to help calibrate it. What dose are you at and how long have you been at it?

Didn't see steady loss until hitting 10mg, and it's taken almost two years to drop 67 pounds, so I'm a slower loser too, though still trending down. Also type 2, and best of all my a1c is sitting at 5.3 now.

If that's you, count yourself lucky. I got horribly sick on 2.5mg and only dropped 3kg over 90 days. Nine months in and it's still crawling along, rough since I'm paying out of pocket. If your country covers it, be grateful for that.

Genuinely frustrating realizing only now, thanks to this medication, how badly damaged some people's metabolic health had actually become. Better late than never though!

Would love to hear how the tail end of your weight loss went. Did anything specific help once things slowed down, any tweaks to dosing or your eating habits?

Wait, by eating right do you mean just watching calories? Also I'm about halfway through the 0.5 dose and haven't noticed anything yet, when does it usually start showing on the scale?

Oh my gosh, I relate completely. Had my third shot Friday and I'm going through the exact same thing, and honestly it's discouraging watching everyone else's amazing first month while mine looks nothing like that. Blame my own body, feel like I've struck out with every diet I've ever attempted. Between logging every calorie, prepping meals, and hitting the gym, that's basically my entire day, yet the scale just refuses to budge.

It's really the hunger that gets to me. My clothes fit looser now. Measurements keep shrinking and I'm staying more active. Suspect I'm losing fat while building muscle, which explains why the scale won't budge. That's fine by me.

The constant food chatter in my head is gone though. I'm just plain starving.

Yeah, I see them as different too. The third compound's really quieted down most of my mental chatter about food. I don't spend much time thinking about getting to a meal, but I'm not exactly hungry either. Earlier in the day I fill up easily, but by evening it gets easy to just keep eating and slide into overdoing it. When circumstances force a stop, like limited lunch break time, I feel satisfied. Later on when I've got the time, there's barely any resistance if any, and I'll keep nibbling at a slower rate until I physically can't (drift off or run out of easy options). The nighttime pull isn't as intense as it used to be, but I'm rarely truly hungry and just keep going anyway. Still, it's helping to some extent!

Took me eleven months to lose fifteen kilos. Yeah, the slow pace gets frustrating, especially scrolling through posts here from people dropping huge amounts fast. Feel discouraged sometimes too. But everyone's body responds differently, comparing isn't really fair to myself.
