Anyone else CRUSHING it?!

I feel like we mostly hear about the horror stories, the awful side effects that make people want to quit. It almost feels like some posts would scare people away from something that could seriously improve their lives! I started semaglutide about 9 months ago. Started at .25, like most people, moved to .5 after a month. I was so worried about side effects from reading everything here that I did .25 twice a week for a couple months. My doctor told me it's designed as a once-a-week med and should be taken that way. She said there isn't enough research on taking it differently. So, I switched to .5 once a week. I really didn't have any issues. Yeah, I get constipation sometimes if I forget to drink enough water, and maybe once a month my stomach feels a little off. But that's nothing compared to the positives!

In the first 5 months, I went from a size 18 to a 14, lost around 20 lbs. As I mentioned in another post, my "biggest" problem is constantly needing new clothes! But that's a great problem to have, right? Over the last 4 months, I've lost another 12 pounds. I'm now in a size 11 juniors. The best part? Last week, I spent about 45 minutes walking my little dogs, one at a time. I even JOGGED with them for a bit! I wasn't winded at all. A year ago, I don't think I could have walked that far. I NEVER run, I always joke, "If you see me running, something's seriously wrong!" It felt so good to get back, grab the next dog, and do it again. I wasn't a sweaty mess. I felt good and proud!

My A1C was always between 9 and 12 for years. It dropped to 6.3 in the first 4 months. I'm due for more bloodwork soon and I'm excited to see the results! My doctor had mentioned insulin a few times. At the appointment where she prescribed Ozempic, I told her I didn't want insulin. That's when she suggested Ozempic. I wish I'd asked about it sooner!

My friend's mom is 64, insulin-dependent, and has neuropathy. She craves sugar, doesn't eat well, and only drinks soda. She has so many health problems! Only one kidney, and it's not working great. She's been sick for weeks but refused to see a doctor. Last night, she collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. They didn't think she'd make it through the night. Today, the doctor put in a drain to get the infection out. She's stable for now, but they said they might have to amputate her foot to save her life. I can't help but wonder if this drug had been around years ago, would she be healthier today?

I know not everyone can take these meds, but if you can, give it a try! I know there are a lot of scary stories, but there are also a lot of wins! I feel like I might have a better shot at a longer, healthier life with my family! My coworker is on a similar med and has had the same experience. She's lost maybe 65lbs, looks and feels AMAZING!! I just wanted to share that there can be really great results. 😊

The first time I tried Ozempic, the side effects were unbearable. I did lose 35 lbs, but it wasn't worth feeling so awful. This time, I listened to my doctor and focused on eating right. I've gone from 220 to 170 in 3 months so far. I changed my diet, stopped overeating, and the sulfur burps are gone. I actually feel good. So, keep going if you're trying! If you're struggling with side effects, try adjusting your eating. I'm loving the weight loss and feeling healthier. Good luck everyone!

I'm so happy too. Started 9 months ago, lost 30lbs. I feel fantastic. I really enjoy not being controlled by my appetite. I feel normal.

That's awesome! So glad it's helped you!

I was so happy a few weeks after starting it because it did so much. I had awful brain fog, messed up sleep, inflammation, my liver enzymes were bad, heel pain, and back pain from standing. Ozempic made it all better. Everything improved and my head felt clear. I even got promoted at work. That wouldn't have happened without it. For real.

I lost 55 lbs the first year. Then gained about 10 back. I got serious about counting calories and lost another 35 lbs in the last year. I've been on it for 2 and a half years now and I've lost 80 lbs total. I started at 255 and now I'm 175. My BMI is around 28.

I'm still a little overweight, and I want to lose another 20 lbs or so over the next couple years. I'm taking it slow. Like you, I'm diabetic and will probably be on this kind of medicine forever. My A1c has been good, around 5.7-5.9, but I want to get it lower. I think more exercise will help. I'm 48, btw.

I always say it gave me my life back. It really did.

So sorry about your friend's mom. 64 isn't old. This drug could have helped her. That's really sad. Hugs.

My doctor says I've had amazing results! Almost no side effects and I have lost 65 lbs in about 9 months. The last few months have been slower, but it's been great 😊

I've had great success with Ozempic and no side effects! I slowly increased my dose over a few weeks, going from .25 to 2mg. I'm Type 2 and my last A1c was 5.1! I feel fantastic, eat healthy, and walk 4-5 miles most days. This medicine has changed everything.

It's worth it for me. Slow but steady weight loss - 10 pounds in 2 months. That's the lowest weight for me in 5 years. So good. Also, I don't want alcohol anymore. I like it.

I'm on the generic and taking .25mg. Tomorrow is my fifth dose. I don't think I need to increase yet, I'm down 8 pounds in the first month! Binge eating and overeating are gone, and no side effects. I think I'll stay at .25 for another month and see what happens.

Lost like 4 kg in 5 weeks. Side effects: Just some nausea sometimes, and sometimes I don't want to eat. Still on 0.5 mg though. We'll see 🌸

I've had great results. I started at 198 (5'1", 43 years old, 4 kids). I started on March 29th this year, and today I'm at 165. I'm on my second week of 1mg (40 units). I started at .25 and increased every four weeks. Side effects have been minimal.

I saw someone post about losing 155 pounds and getting rid of diabetic numbers, anxious eating, inflammation, migraines, and menopause symptoms. What an incredible win!

That's amazing! I'm hoping it helps with my inflammation too.

Saw my doc today. He was impressed: 29 lbs down, BP dropped from 134/108 to 109/71. Can quit my BP meds now — that's the real win because I want to be around for my kids' weddings. Insurance ends soon but doc approved staying on low dose (0.5mg) and switching to compounded to keep going.
