BMI finally in normal range!

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Was 226 at 5'9", wanted 185 but then looked at BMI ranges and pushed to get truly normal numbers. Hit 163 and now floating between 161-164. Total drop of 64 pounds.

Congrats! That must feel amazing. Same here on wishing this had been around decades ago. Finally hit what the scale calls normal weight at 50 and part of me grieves for that 20-year-old carrying extra weight back then.

Congrats, that's huge! You must feel so different. Same about wishing this had been around 30 years ago. I'm finally at a normal weight at 50, and I really do grieve a bit for younger me when I had all that weight holding me back.

Goodlabs is decent and available in the PNW. ULTA labs is worth checking in your area. Finding a TRT doc who's got your back and won't charge $300/month is the real win. I was 270 before an ankle break sidelined me, now 340 with e2 climbing. Not ideal.

Congrats on the milestone! BMI as a measurement has its limits but there is something real about crossing that threshold after working toward it. What has actually changed the most in how you feel day to day?

Class II obese to normal BMI is the definition of a complete transformation, not just a number shift. The fact that it's 'not the best measure' doesn't matter when you know how much work it represents. That's a real milestone.

Going from obese to normal BMI is a meaningful clinical milestone, not just a number. A lot of people work a year or more to hit that threshold and then realize the scale was measuring something real all along. What dose got you there and are you planning to maintain or push further?

Just crossed into that range myself this week, honestly ecstatic. Hadn't landed in a healthy range in ages. Went from 29.8 down to 24.3. Gave me a real boost to keep pushing with diet and exercise. Took close to three months to get there.

Such a silly number in the grand scheme honestly, but moving down a category still feels genuinely great. Remember being so proud crossing from Class 2 into Class 1 Obese.

Genuinely proud of you too! Best of luck on this journey.

Aww, that's really sweet. Honestly if my 'healthy BMI' number wasn't sitting at 168lbs I'd probably just stop around 190, that's my actual first goal, but I'm playing it by ear since BMI's such an outdated measure, I don't even use it with my own clients, makes the whole process feel way more daunting than it needs to. Really appreciate the kind words.

Congrats on getting so close to that milestone!!! That's huge! I'm just a few decimals away from crossing into overweight myself, coming from Obese Class 2, so seeing posts like this really keeps me motivated!

Such a huge win. People who've only ever dealt with being overweight, never past that, often don't even have the words or willingness to talk about weight with someone who's actually obese. I constantly have to remind people that clinically I fall under class III, morbidly obese, and that my decade-long worry about yearly weight creep is a genuinely real concern. Congrats to you! Keep celebrating every one of those big drops!

All wonderful news!
BMI's a flawed number, worth glancing at but I wouldn't weigh it too heavily against other markers. Sounds like you've got the numbers that actually matter locked in.
So happy for you!!!

That calculator's new to me, but wanted to respond to the rest of what you shared. Seeing that percentage lost is a massive accomplishment! Random stranger on the internet is genuinely proud of you! You've shed a third of what you weighed exactly a year back, no small feat at all! Wouldn't be surprised if your body occasionally hits the brakes just to check in, that's all just biology doing its thing. Keep pushing toward that goal knowing you're doing great! Will go check out that calculator now.

Most useful measure of health in my opinion is simply whether your daily choices are helping or hurting you. Right now, sounds like you're firmly in the helping category.
