Coming off GLP-1s: Success!

Hey everyone, I wanted to share some good news! Some of you may recall my earlier posts before January. I took some pictures as I transitioned off the medication since my partner and I are trying to conceive. I honestly thought I'd regain some weight. It's been almost five months now, and surprisingly, I appear even slimmer than I did back then! I've actually lost around 4 more pounds, and honestly, I haven't changed anything drastically. I didn't stick to any strict diet while on or off the meds; I'm basically eating what I want but being mindful of portions. I started recalling what my portion sizes were like before starting sema, and I've been trying to stick to those even when my brain is telling me to eat more. All the research says most people start gaining weight quickly, but that hasn't been the case for me. My thyroid levels were a little high before starting, and losing weight helped bring them to normal. Sema really improved my life, and I feel good moving forward. After we have our kid(s), I'll probably go back on it if I put weight back on during pregnancy, but for now, I'm medication-free, and my waistline hasn't increased. Hopefully, this helps someone who's worried about stopping for any reason – if I had seen this info earlier, it would have reduced my anxiety a lot! 😅

That's my goal! I hope to shed around 80 pounds, and so far, I've dropped 30 since late January (I'm a 6'1" guy). I'm starting to understand the portion sizes I need to follow both during and after using these meds, as well as which foods to limit. Thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks for sharing your experience. There's a lot of concern about what happens after stopping the medication. You look fantastic!

Thanks for sharing, I'm hoping to discontinue the injections sometime next year because my partner and I want to start a family too. You look great!

Also, did you do anything specific for your stretch marks? They seem less noticeable. I'm asking for myself👀 I have one on my stomach that's been red for almost a year now

Wow, congrats on your progress!!

Also, could this be marked NSFW? I realize it doesn't really show anything, but someone might glance at my screen while I'm scrolling and get the wrong idea, lol. NSFW prevents the image from loading automatically. I'm not sure if you can do that after posting.

Congrats again, I'm really happy for you!!!

That's fantastic! Congrats!

But it does seem kinda contradictory to say you're not following any diet rules and then mention you're making an effort to stick to the same portion sizes you had while on the medication.

For most people, that alone is a significant rule and a real challenge, lol.

Thanks for sharing! I've read some interesting findings coming out of recent studies. Here's a link to one with helpful strategies:

Wonderful for you, but our insurance changed, and I couldn't get it anymore. All the weight came back, and then some. Fortunately, we switched back – I'm on Zepbound now, which works much better for me than Ozempic did.

Congrats, this is the dream! Did you gradually reduce your dose or stop completely? My partner and I are also trying to conceive, and I'm scared to get off the medication.

Yeah, I see what Nicky2008 means. Maintaining portion control IS a rule, even if it's a flexible one. It's still a conscious effort to regulate intake.

I've heard these drugs can impact fertility, both positively and negatively. There was a thread about unexpected pregnancies with women taking Ozempic because of hormonal changes and weight loss improving ovulation.

That's good information to have! I know some people also experience irregular periods, so it's important to be aware of these potential effects.
