I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea back in '17. Once I got my CPAP, I was getting amazing sleep, the best I'd had in forever. Sleeping without it was impossible, and the bonus was fewer trips to the bathroom at night.
Then July '23 I start on a GLP-1. By November, I'm at my goal weight, but I'm finding it hard to breathe right, or maybe the CPAP wasn't working as well.
This February, I see my lung doc, and she thinks I might not need the machine anymore because of the weight loss, but she lets me decide. I'm used to it, so I get a new fancy one. Months go by of messing with settings because I just wasn't sleeping as well, the mask leaked, the pressure was too low, the pressure was too high, causing bloating. I decided to try sleeping without the mask... and bam! I called the supplier, returned the new machine, stopped the payments, and my old machine is in a closet. My doc is thrilled I don't need it anymore, all thanks to weight loss.
Another non-scale victory I never saw coming: sleeping through the night without a CPAP and not waking my wife with my thunderous snoring.
This med has improved my life so much; it's priceless. Now I'm down to one blood pressure pill, my fatty liver is gone, the visceral fat around my organs is gone, I was almost diabetic but now my A1c is 5.3, back and knee pain is minimal, and I don't need a CPAP. It's all life-changing, and the benefits are worth what I've spent.
