Started at 222, now I'm floating around 180, hoping to reach 165. I'm a 55 year old woman, 5'11".
This med has totally reshaped my eating habits. The constant cravings and food obsession? Gone! I'm only interested in food that nourishes my body. I avoid junk food like the plague because my stomach gets full super quick. Foods high in fat, grease, sugar, or salt now make me feel pretty awful. Getting enough protein can still be a struggle, and sometimes I forget to eat, which leads to weakness. But the benefits are amazing! I feel fantastic, have way more energy, and my skin looks better, probably because I've cut out processed foods. Never knew how important nutrition truly was. In the beginning, it was a challenge getting used to the medication, so if you're struggling, hang in there! When nausea or lack of appetite hit, I started with tiny bites. A single grape, a couple of strawberries, or half a slice of whole wheat toast with a smear of peanut butter.
I honestly believed losing weight at my age, especially with menopause looming, was a pipe dream. Before starting sema, I spent 6 frustrating months losing maybe 10 pounds through diet and exercise. Now that I'm prioritizing protein, I'm ready to ramp up my workouts and start tracking measurements alongside the scale. I appreciate the support from everyone here!
P.S. That little black dress? It used to be so tight I could barely breathe. Now it's practically falling off. My pants and workout tops are also two sizes smaller in the 'after' pic.
