Down a pant size... or two!

I've gone from a 44 waist to a size 40, and I'm already using the middle notch. It's interesting when people can tell you've shed pounds but hesitate to comment. Anyone else?

I'm in the market for new belts myself. I'm on the last hole and still hike up my pants when walking. There's a gap of several inches at the waist as well, so new pants are likely needed. I'm a middle-aged guy who's dropped from roughly 175 to 150 over four months, thanks to Ozempic for T2 diabetes. My cardiologist suggested it to lower my A1C, which just came back at 5.9, down from maybe 6.7 before I started.

That's awesome! You'll feel so much better in clothes that fit properly. It's a great reward for your hard work!

Oh, I've been on it 3 months now, maybe dropped around 15 lbs. It's more noticable in my clothes than the scale, tbh.
That's a wonderful start! Keep up the great work. Gradual and sustainable is often the best approach.

Has anyone noticed people treating them differently since losing weight? I'm curious about others' experiences with that.

No real advantage differentiating them usually except psychology lessons help - like using smaller plates or getting dopamine elsewhere. Things get complicated though.

The pant size milestone lands differently than the scale. 44 to 40 with room still to move - that kind of progress shows in how you carry yourself. The world treating you differently is real, but the internal shift usually comes first.

Electrolytes daily plus keeping intake above 1000 is a useful pair - the electrolyte gap tends to show up as fatigue and headaches, which can look like the medication's effect but is usually correctable.

Going from bursting at the seams to loose at minus 20kg is the kind of result that changes the relationship with getting dressed. The pants milestone is real in a way the scale isn't always. Are you close to an actual size drop now or is the looseness just within the same size?

44 to 40 and using the middle notch is two waist size steps and enough pants movement to make the difference visible to other people. The scale-vs-measurements split you describe at week 17 is the recomposition happening in real time - the inches moving without the number dropping is the body swapping composition. DEXA would likely show this clearly.

During that opening stretch, I was mainly just relieved clothes actually fit the way they should. Hadn't realized how stretched out I'd been keeping them! Then things picked up fast and I dropped multiple pants sizes in a hurry, which got pricey. These days I honestly never know how anything's going to fit. Some mornings a favorite shirt looks baggy while pants feel snug, then the very next day everything's sliding right off. Quite the ride :)

Just a heads up, once the real downsizing kicks in, expect a size change roughly every ten pounds. Learn from my mistake and skip spending big on structured trousers unless you've got money to burn on alterations! Elastic waistbands and drawstrings have become my absolute favorite now.

Wild how much a garment can flex across such a big weight change. Feels amazing when clothing finally fits like it was tailored for you. Congrats. Whenever people mention dropping 50 to 100 pounds, I picture lugging that same weight around all day in dumbbell or kettlebell form. Not exactly pleasant.

Down 60 myself and only sized down once, around the 50lb mark. Really depends how much total weight you're carrying. Still wearing most of my old wardrobe, just baggier now. Got quite a bit further to go so can't justify restocking my closet at every single size drop.
