Easing off the dose... anyone else?

I'm at my target weight, which is unreal. Never thought I'd actually get here. I'm seeing my doctor soon to talk about going back down to 5mg after being on 7.5mg for the last few months.

I'm okay with maybe gaining a pound or two, but anything more than that and I'd be back on the higher dose ASAP.

Has anyone else been able to maintain on a lower dose? Like, you didn't need as much to keep the weight off and the side effects were less?

I've been in maintenance mode for about half a year now. Went from 12.5mg to 10mg, then 7.5mg, and finally 5mg. My weight's been pretty stable, but it's crept up a little. I actually bumped back up to 7.5mg yesterday to try and get back on track. Once I'm where I want to be, I'll drop back to 5.

I'm 69F, 5'0", and have type 2 diabetes, plus other health stuff.

I started this journey in March of last year. I went from 10mg to 7.5mg to 5mg. I've been on 5mg for the last six months, and so far, so good. My A1C is okay, not perfect, but it never will be because mine is genetic, not weight-related. My weight hasn't changed. I haven't gained any back.

I'm lucky because I've had very few to no side effects at any dose.

I wanted to stay on a higher dose and just inject every 10 days, but my doctor said no because of my diabetes, so I'm on 5mg and doing alright. I do get a little hungry a day or two before my next shot, but if I snack on healthy stuff throughout the day, I can maintain my weight.

Good luck!

I hear you @HormoneHustle, but honestly, I'm way more worried about the risks of being overweight. I'd likely have had a heart attack by now if I hadn't lost the weight. My doctor runs regular blood work so I feel pretty good about it.

Yeah, I'm not too stressed about it. My doc basically said I'll be on this stuff for life. I get blood work every few months and everything's been fine. I've been lifting weights too, trying to build some muscle since it can be hard to get enough protein on this med.

I'm a little worried about long-term stuff, but like @ReconClean said, the alternative is probably worse. I've seen so many improvements in my overall health since losing the weight.

I have a friend who's been on similar meds for like 20 years! She seems to be doing great. Helps me not worry so much. As long as it keeps working and my bloodwork is good, I'm sticking with it.

Anyone try going above the 15 mg max available by prescription for Mounjaro? On 15 mg for six months and it is not working like it did. Thinking about 17 point 5 or even 20 mg instead.

had to microdose cause 0.5 gave me terrible constipation. doc brought me back to 0.25 till my appointment, then taught me how to climb up slow. took 6 months to hit 1mg, now at 1.5.

Been at this dose for weeks and the scale isn't cooperating. Still tracking macros and hitting the gym. Looking for a way to break through.

Fatigue varies and usually drops after 2 or 3 weeks. I had none and kept my routine — tennis 4 times a week, 90-minute walks, weights 3 times a week. Started at 77 years old. People with bad side effects often do better splitting the dose. Half on day 1, half on day 4. You can split a 0.25 starter dose with pen clicks.

Salmon's gotten me into trouble too. Can eat it now in moderation but gotta watch fat content of the whole meal and fiber too. Fatty fish in general can trip you up if you're not careful. Satiety from fat's delayed so combined with the delayed emptying we get on this, plus fiber making bulk, it's a perfect storm.

people confuse half-life with how the drug actually works. half-life is just how long the drug's in your system, not when you feel effects. if appetite suppression hits only the first few days after dosing, split dosing makes sense.
