Splitting 1mg to 2x0.5mg works if you mark the plunger. Fridge door is fine - cool not frozen is what matters. The expiry question is actually the harder one than the split.

the water-priming step before a volume accuracy test is the right preparation - a sticky plunger from a new or long-unused syringe gives a false read on the first draw that doesn't reflect how it will actually perform with the real fill. running it empty once before the test draw removes that variable and gives you a cleaner result

Each pen holds several doses. You can dial in either .25 or .5 with those. Keep it refrigerated and it'll stay good right up until the expiration date.

As long as what's inside looks clear and not cloudy, you're generally fine. I'm on the 5mg pen myself, dosing at 2.5mg.

Can be a bit of a hassle, but writing the first-use date right on the box really helps keep track! Though here in the US that's not a worry yet given how oversized our standard pens run, lol.

Good to know, thanks. I'm already at max dose but I've got a stash of unused 12.5 pens that'll expire before I get a chance to use them. Hate the idea of just tossing them, so weighing what the smartest move is here.

Someone recently mentioned spotting 15mg pens with a 6/2027 expiry date from an older manufacturing batch. So a handful are apparently still floating around out there.

You've got to do whatever feels right to you, but personally there's no way I'd follow that pharmacy's guidance here. Personally I'll keep a device going provided the contents remain clear and the expiration hasn't passed. Store mine properly, maintaining the cold chain the whole way. Every pen I've received has arrived cold, goes straight into the fridge, and stays cold the entire time, out only briefly to inject before going right back in. I use a pen until it's completely empty. These things cost way too much to toss after just a handful of doses. Maybe that pharmacy's struggling financially, or maybe they just don't want any liability exposure, understandable given how litigious things can get, but that's likely just the overly cautious answer they're required to give.

Plenty of doctors will even write a prescription for a larger pen size for someone on a smaller dose, purely to help them save money. Not official medical guidance to anyone reading this, but it shows what even prescribers themselves are willing to say. I'd personally have zero hesitation continuing with it. The final call is obviously yours to make, but it's worth digging into a broader range of sources rather than leaning entirely on one pharmacy's stance.
