GLP-1 myths IRL?

It's wild, folks. Ever since I've been shrinking, people don't ask me for diet tips or anything. They just straight up ask if I'm hooked on something or went under the knife. I've been using a GLP-1 for more than a year, been up and down with adjusting the dosage with my doc's help. It was a beast at first with the nausea and the other fun stuff, but now it's chill. Now everyone's acting like I'm shooting up horse tranquilizer or something. Explaining it's a legit medicine is getting old. Like, yeah, there are downsides, but it gave me my life back. Anyone else getting the side-eye?

Just a reminder that discussing unapproved versions or sourcing of medications isn't allowed. Please keep the discussion focused on experiences and not procurement. Also, if you're new, check out the FAQ. This is just to help guide the discussion, not shut it down.

I help out at a local gym, and one of the members asked if it was, like, cheating if she signed up for the weight loss challenge while taking a GLP-1 medication. I told her no way! She's still gotta push herself. It's just helping her body work like it should, like being able to feel full. She seemed relieved that I didn't judge her. I think these meds are great.

This is exactly why I keep my sema use to myself. I don't need anyone's two cents. It's my body, end of story. Only my hubby knows, and he gets that it's my call. People can think what they want.

It's like asking, is insulin 'cheating' diabetes? Are BP meds 'cheating' high blood pressure? People gotta look at the science behind tirzepatide and weight. And honestly, mind your own business. If the meds are helping you, do you.

Before semaglutide was even big, people were bashing it. I think a lot were paid shills from the diet and fitness industry. It's what made me think it would work. Who gets that mad about something that isn't effective? I'm down 60, and I don't care what anyone says about it.

Honestly, I don't even tell people anymore. There's too much clickbait out there, and it's not worth the fight. It's like talking politics with someone on the other side. Everyone has an opinion, even if it's not based on facts. I just say I'm doing well. If they ask about GLP-1s, I tell them to do their own homework and talk to their doctor. I'm here if they want to know about my experience. It's so freeing not needing approval. It's my secret weapon, and it works for me. I don't even need people to notice. I've had to learn to give myself props for every little win. Like my jeans are getting too big, and I can eat a treat without going overboard. No point changing the mind of a brick wall.

People are mad that being thin is now available to more people. Their prejudice against heavier people needs a target, so if it's not the fat itself, it's the medicine. I tell some people; others, I don't. Depends on my mood. I lost 40 lbs on my own, then another 30 on sema, which was actually harder. My BMI is 25.8, and I want to lose maybe ten more pounds, but people who used to cheer me on are saying I look too skinny. I genuinely think people get a little ego boost from thinking they're superior when they see someone overweight, so their reaction is just shock. I have a friend who's known me for 40 years, and she was almost speechless when she saw me. I could see envy in her eyes because we're at that age where we're supposed to be gaining weight, and here I am doing the opposite. Get a good luck charm and keep going.

"You mean you're going to take that for the rest of your life??????????"

Me - "Yup."

LOL! I get asked this ALL the time. "Is it safe to take that forever?" I just say "Compared to the risks of staying obese? Absolutely."

That's so true! The more hate it got, the more I was like, "Okay, there's gotta be something to this." Now I just brush off the haters. They're probably just jealous, tbh.

To those of you keeping it secret, more power to you! I totally get wanting to avoid the drama. I think it's wise to set boundaries with people, and that includes what medical info you share. As someone else said, you don't have to internalize their opinions. It's your body, your choice.

On a slightly different note, has anyone had peptides sitting around for a few years? I've got some frozen stuff that's been in my freezer for over 3 years, wondering if it's still any good.

Read, read, and read some more—that's what helped me. I've been here a few weeks and learned tons just by searching and reading through Vendor Reviews. Most questions you have have already been answered. Lots of vendors here take PayPal, Alipay, Alibaba. Made my first order Sunday and it shipped already. Check the guides for crypto first-timers. Welcome aboard.
