Never managed to finish a full course and reach my target weight because of side effects. Only tried the single-pathway medication so far, curious whether a different option in this drug class might treat me better. My plan doesn't cover the cost and it's been a real barrier, though I've noticed prices dropping recently.
Downsides: I dealt with pretty much every commonly reported side effect. Rarely managed more than 700 calories a day, constantly weak, exhausted, and lightheaded. Diarrhea kept me tethered to wherever the nearest bathroom was. Combined with nonstop nausea, that's ultimately why I stopped.
Upsides: the constant gnawing hunger vanished entirely, and so did the shakiness that used to come with feeling hungry. Weight came off, sure, but the couch was where I spent most of that time. Also lost interest in things that probably spike dopamine for me, like browsing online or shopping. Never dealt with actual addiction, but those habits are the closest comparison I've got.
Gained back about 5 pounds over the past two years.
