GLP-1s: Face and Skin changes?

I've read that as you lose weight, your hormones fluctuate. Makes sense that you might see acne flares because of that!

Yes! Body fat stores hormones. When you lose weight, those hormones get released. Something to be aware of.

I've been seeing way more acne ever since starting sema. It's really annoying because I'm feeling great otherwise!

I think 0.5 to 2 lbs per week is the sweet spot. Going faster puts stress on your body and doesn't leave time to build healthy habits. Skin needs time to adjust too.

This med is a tool like a shovel — makes the digging easier (no food noise) but you still work. Snacking's still a problem? Kill it. Get rid of the junk, replace with washed fruit and veggies. Greek yogurt and fruit for dessert. Couple weeks and your brain resets. Fuel yourself with high protein and fiber. Drink water like you get paid. Aim for 1 oz per pound.

The face changes on GLP-1s track two effects - volume loss from fat reduction shows fast, while the metabolic improvement in skin quality builds over months and is less dramatic but more durable.

The face fat pad effect is real and the rate of loss matters - people who drop weight faster tend to show more hollow facial changes than slower-paced losers at the same end weight, which is part of why gradual approaches tend to age better in the face.
