GLP-1s: More than just weight loss?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
The 'now what do I do with the feeling' phase is where a lot of people hit a wall they weren't expecting - the medication removes the mechanism you'd been using to manage emotional states, and the backed-up processing tends to surface relatively fast. Therapy in that specific window is more productive than therapy at other times because there's actually something to work with.

The pattern of feeling 'thin' only during unhealthy restrictive periods and the role these medications play in the emotional eating piece is such an important dimension that doesn't get enough attention. Research mindset on your own situation is the right instinct. What dose are you on and how long until you started noticing the food noise change?

I'm brand new to GLP meds, but years back I naturally slimmed down (25lb) and held that weight steady until starting an SSRI two years ago. Since then snacking and portions spiraled and I'm at my heaviest ever.

Hits two weeks tomorrow on 0.25mg wegovy and I'm 6lb lighter already. Based on what I'm seeing now and from past experience, this medication mainly helps quiet the mental chatter around food so I can actually stick to my calorie target. It's not speeding up metabolism or making pounds vanish on its own, the same basic principles behind shedding weight still hold true.

Big picture, getting older with a desk job means my maintenance calories keep shrinking even with strength training in the mix, which unfortunately still means tracking what I eat.

Down a solid amount over ten weeks on a small wegovy dose. Lost a big chunk on a different program almost two decades back and held onto most of that loss up until fairly recently. Gained some back from stress eating! Ran it by my doctor, who felt this drug class suited me well. Side effects have been minimal so far.

Dealt with weight struggles throughout my teenage years, and I genuinely would've welcomed medical support and access to this drug class back then. My life would've looked so different in a lot of ways.
I actually know a teenager who's done remarkably well on a properly prescribed version of this medication, it's been cleared for adolescent use for a while now.
