GLP-1s & Running? Anyone?

Starting marathon training. First time. Nervous. Did a few halves but nothing past mile 13 in practice. Lost 28 lbs on Tirz, which is great. Any tips for fatigue while on Tirz or to speed up recovery from runs?

Runner here! I usually do 6-7k runs 4 times a week. After a week on 2mg Reta, my energy got WAY better. I did 5 runs in a row with no walking or sore muscles! Hope it lasts!

I'm thinking of switching from Tirz to Reta -- I'm in maintenance now. But I read that Tirz is better for inflammation and that's why I want to stay on something. Glad Reta is working for you!

I run long distances (halves and fulls). Tirz has helped a LOT. But I did have energy dips while running.

My fix is to pack those squeezable fruit pouches (like baby food). They fit in my running short pockets. If I need more fuel, I add some jam, honey, or peanut butter.

It's messy to prep, but it gives me the boost I need. Happy running! 🏃 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️

Update:

12 weeks into training. Half marathon check-in at the end of Oct (in a month). The Tirz fatigue got better or wasn't so bad. It's been okay until a 13-mile run last weekend. I didn't fuel right before or during, and I'm paying for it now with crazy fatigue. Shot day is Friday, long run is Saturday. My worst days are Sunday/Monday (days 2 and 3 after the shot). Maybe I need to change my dose or run schedule to fuel better for longer runs. Also thinking about GLOW/KLOW or a wolverine stack.

Not about Tirz fatigue, but training in general. I run 30-36 miles weekly and boost with TB500 and KPV. BPC157 was good but I can't take it anymore. DSIP helps my rest too. Happy training ❤️

Update: the half marathon went great! Last shot was two Fridays before the race—perfect for carb loading. Now onto the full marathon in Jan.

Good luck, just starting a plan for Tokyo myself. Wondering how Reta compares to Mounjaro -- I couldn't run more than 8 miles when I was on Mounjaro.

Training for an ultra while on Reta... super low miles and dose now. It'll be interesting when the miles and dose go up.

How about NAD+, Glutathione, and B12? NAD+ gives a lot of people a kick of energy. Also, CoQ10 at 300-600mg daily helps energy when training hard.

Training for my first 5k! I've lost around 32 pounds and my knees don't feel like they're going to explode on a light jog anymore 🤣. Taking it slow to avoid injuries. Sticking to the C25k program!

How did the marathon go, TirzAF? Did you keep taking tirz until the marathon? Did you go down on the dose?

Ultra runner here, on Reta. Body feels more energetic (we'll see on long runs). But anaerobic running or steep climbs give me acidic burps/slight nausea. Training starts April. I'll probably lower or cycle off Reta until after the race.

Not a big runner, but after GLP-1s, I can run farther without getting tired. I can easily do a 5k now, which used to be hard.

I’m on tirz, and the first few months were rough. I started late 2023, and that’s when I started running again (after injuries). I improved slowly and upped my mileage. My heart rate was high and took time to settle. But I got better. Once I started tirz maintenance, it got easier. Eating enough carbs for training is key. Now I run 50-70km a week easily. I stop the meds one or two weeks before a race. But the longer I use tirz, the less it affects things.

Update: After that post, I upped my dose, then got a cold/virus 🤧, so I took the week off. Felt super tired, but I tried to run earlier this week. I got sharp/cramping in my abs and could only run for a few minutes before slowing to a jog/hike 😡. Hydration/electrolytes were good.

With April coming, and hitting my weight goal a while ago, I lowered my dose to 2mg yesterday.

Running on reta (2mg) makes it harder for me to stay in zone 2. My resting heart rate hasn't changed, so it's not that.
