Greens powders: legit or just hype?

Has anyone else noticed how those powdered greens mixes are everywhere again? All the insta-celebs are pushing them, especially for digestion issues and cutting down on the bloat.

I got some from a brand that's promoted by an influencer I think is great (samantha_pcos, huge fan), since it was half the normal cost. After taking it for a few days, I think it's been helping with both bloating and digestion. However, I do happen to be cycling TB-500 as well, so it might be the TB-500 kicking in, or maybe it's a combo of both. I won't have a solid answer until I quit taking one of them.

On the bright side, the one I bought is actually pretty delicious. Plus, it gives me a little extra fiber without the horrible heartburn I get from psyllium fiber. It also gives me a little bit of an antioxidant boost.

That being said, I've heard some people say that these kinds of supplements make their bloating even worse, which isn't that surprising since everyone reacts to these things differently. A lot of them have artificial sweeteners, which can cause gut issues for some people. Luckily, I'm not one of those people.

Thoughts? Has anyone else tried this kind of stuff?

I'm usually super skeptical of anything an influencer is paid to promote, because often they don't do much, or you could achieve the same results with slight changes to what you eat or how you live.

You could probably get similar or BETTER results if you just ate a single whole avocado every day.

But if you like the taste, and you feel like it's helping you, keep taking it! What works for you and helps you stick to your routine is way more important than my own negativity towards supplements.

Oh, I'm totally a skeptic too, don't worry. Even though these powders have been around since way before social media, they've just gotten super popular recently. Some things that are in these mixes do have real health benefits that have been proven, but is there enough in each serving to really make a difference? And some of them also have prebiotics and probiotics. Would it be worth it at full cost? I'm not certain. But I'll see if I still think it's helping after I'm done with this TB-500 cycle.

After a few days, the measuring tape showed I lost a half inch off my belly where the bloating is usually the worst, and I've barely been burping since I started using it (the sema makes me burp a LOT). But maybe it's just the TB-500 finally doing its thing for my inflammation and bloating. The studies on TB-500 are about as reliable as saying "maybe this helps?" like the greens supplements.

I already eat my veggies and avocado pretty regularly. I can only eat the small avocados though, because a big one makes me sick. I couldn't even eat avocados for around 10 years. It wasn't an actual food allergy, but like a sensitivity. I would get terrible stomach cramps and puke an hour or two after eating them. I tried eating them again, and whatever the problem was seems to have cleared up.

Are you using a powder similar to Athletic Greens? I'd say keep using whatever makes you feel better, even if some people say they're pointless. I usually tell people to try Green Vibrance instead (it's also a greens and probiotic supplement).

They don't really do any marketing, list the exact amounts of each ingredient, and they've been around since the 90s at least. Even the price is better, especially when it goes on sale at health food stores. The taste is the main issue, but it's pretty decent in a smoothie or with juice.

For super digestion, try taking the greens you're using (or Green Vibrance) mixed into a tiny shot of apple cider vinegar, aloe vera juice, and some water. That helped my bloating, and also MRM digest all capsules.

Nice to see another Green Vibrance user here. I don't have any before and after stories, and can't say how it might affect bloating. But as far as the taste goes, it's no big deal because I mix a scoop into my low carb chocolate protein shake for breakfast every day.

I'm using Kiala. I don't have any brand loyalty, it just happened to be on sale lol. It doesn't have as many healthy ingredients as Green Vibrance, and it doesn't have digestive enzymes and probiotics. I like that Green Vibrance has Holy Basil. I'll likely give it a try when I run out of this Kiala.

Bloating and digestive issues can be common with GLP-1s. Are any of you experiencing heartburn with these greens? I've seen some success with patients using famotidine about a half hour before injecting. Also, try sleeping with an extra pillow to prop yourself up a bit. It often gets better as your body adjusts.

I've had terrible heartburn after starting sema. Regular antacids barely touched it! Then someone told me about just a tiny bit of baking soda in water. I know it sounds gross, but it actually works. It's an old trick from Europe apparently.

I agree about the digestion issues. It's like... things just stopped moving normally since I started. I'm going to try adding a fiber supplement like Benefiber every morning when I take my meds and see how that goes. I'll report back!

Fiber is a game changer for sure! Make sure you're drinking enough water too, otherwise the fiber can make things worse.

That's a great idea about the fiber! I've been having some issues too, but it hadn't occurred to me to add more fiber. I'm gonna pick some up ASAP. Thanks!
