Half dose too little, whole too much?

I started in June on 0.25mg, and it was amazing. Within hours, the constant cravings vanished. I ate way less and felt normal hunger for once. Loved it! BUT I didn't lose weight for 6 weeks (even with a new diet). Only side effect was occasional sulphur burps. Then in October, I upped it to 0.5mg. I was so sick for like 4 days, but lost 8lbs instantly, haha. Now I've lost about 25lbs total, but lately I sometimes can't eat anything at all. I feel nauseous trying to eat; sometimes I can manage a smoothie. I skipped a dose or two to get hungry again (it worked), but I skipped last one two weeks ago and still no strong hunger. I worry about nutrition, protein intake, and strength training. I'm close to my goal, maybe 10lbs left, then I want to go back to 0.25mg for maintenance. Anyone else feel a dose got too strong? The 0.5mg seems to work better over time, which is odd.

It might be a good idea to talk to your doctor about lowering the dose, as you definitely don't want to be unable to eat and become nutrient-deficient!

For protein, you're right about liquids being easier. If even a smoothie is too much, try a smaller protein shot (like a 5-hour energy, but protein). A good brand gives you 20-25g per serving, which is solid. Pair it with rice cakes/crackers and fruit for fiber (raspberries are great) between meals.

Super curious what others say; I'm supposed to go to 0.5mg but am nervous, so I've stayed at 0.25mg a couple weeks longer!

Thanks @Jenny_54 and @Jenny17! I'll try splitting the dose. Maybe that'll be the trick to getting rid of this nausea.

Hey, I'm travelling in a couple of weeks and my shot day is while I'm away. I'm kinda new to this, should I do a half dose a day early to avoid side effects while I travel? Or just skip my dose for the week and wait until I get back? or take the whole does a day early? I'm worried I'll get sick on the plane!

I'd stick to your regular schedule. Consistency is key with these meds. Maybe pack some anti-nausea meds just in case?

Following @Jenny17's advice of sticking to your schedule is wise, and to add to it: if you need to travel with your medication, make sure to keep it cool. An insulin travel case from Amazon could work well.

Right, appreciate that. Definitely not going down the mail fraud path lol. Also skipping the China route because airline miles are way too valuable to mess with.

Dose bumps too fast gave me tingling in arms and weird chest feelings — maybe heartburn. Settled after 3 weeks and felt smooth. Could work out harder, recovered faster. Retained 5 lbs water weight at 1mg but it's dropping off a week in. Pretty happy so far.

worried i'm gonna torch too much muscle getting down to 170-175, and then can't rebuild it back because i'm getting older. kinda feels like i missed the window for easy gains. but i'm hoping once i dial in maintenance calories, i can actually build some muscle back up.

If you're a woman (can't speak to the guy side), your system can shift around a little. Don't stress about it too hard. It'll balance out.

think it's water weight bloat. early in my journey, 198 now from 218 but look less swollen. taking a week off because last dose made me too nauseous. want to silence food noise without feeling sickly. appetite hasn't fully came back yet so playing it by ear. only 8 weeks in so maybe being overly sensitive.

That sounds like a lot of work for very little benefit. Switch to twice weekly or even every three days if you're considering it, but daily would be way too much.

same, i've had mad sweet cravings. but the meds make everything taste sweeter already so i can't handle much actual sugar anyway, which is honestly perfect.

A lot of stories out there that going off and back on makes future loss harder. Had the same issue at 10mg but titrated too fast (monthly). Backed down to 7.5 for 6 weeks, now back at 10 because my food choices got loose. Looks like I need the lowest tolerable dose for steady loss. Even half a pound a week is 26 down in a year. It's a marathon.

Lilly goes to Reddit hunting ways to shut down compounders and ends up deciding to nuke the sweet spot dose while they're at it. (kidding... kind of)

The half-dose approach makes sense when the full amount hits too hard. The sweet spot is where appetite suppression is real but side effects stay manageable. Some people do this for a few weeks then ramp up once they've adapted. What's happening at the full dose?
