Hit my goal! Now what?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Hit something during injection, felt different. Bailed and switched sides. Got burse and redness now. Maybe MotS started this week caused it.

Thank you so much for the kind words, seriously. This whole journey has been about quieting that constant food chatter in my head. Hitting this goal means more to me than just the number on the scale - it's the mental freedom that's huge.

yep, overfill. australia had only vials for over a year, then KwikPen launched and everyone complained it wasn't working. turns out 65 units from a 5mg vial is closer to 6.5 or 7.5mg—people dropped a dose without knowing. don't take overfill unless you're intentionally upping your dose.

notice quick weight loss on low doses mostly in people who aren't very overweight. if you've got more to lose, metabolism's usually rougher and you need higher doses. i burned through 70kg and still needed high tirz to manage hunger. low dose ozempic didn't touch it.

have you thought about staying on the lowest dose that still works, or even microdosing for maintenance? gives you the benefits without the harsh side effects. no real reason to be on high doses if lower ones do the job.

Fear of titrating down at goal is common - the med feels like it's holding the result. Standard move: drop one dose, hold 4-6 weeks, monitor. Most people find a lower maintenance dose rather than stopping.

95 lbs in 13 months changes what maintenance means - you're establishing a new baseline, not returning to the old one. Increasing calories and spacing doses is the standard transition protocol.

40 lbs of inflammation in the first 9 weeks on reta is the metabolic reset data point that stands out. 95 lbs in 13 months for the OP is the headline but the doc stretching out dosing is the interesting maintenance experiment. Congrats on the goal - what's the reta dose and what does the new injection schedule look like?

Three pounds under goal at 1.5 years on Reta is actually the best possible outcome - you got there and then kept going a little further. The 'never thought I would get this low' realization is something a lot of people describe when they pass a number they'd given up on. 95 lbs in 13 months in the OP is the kind of result that earns a 'now what.'

Was completely wiped out those first two months, needed two to three hour naps daily just to function at all. The four months after that I've just dealt with unusual tiredness and low drive. Honestly been a genuinely tough half year, but worth it, I've lost 20 kilos and I'm at my target now. As nervous as I am about food thoughts creeping back, I'm planning to quit entirely a fortnight from now, once what I've got left runs dry, rather than switching to a smaller maintenance amount. Just can't sustain feeling like this indefinitely.

Do think my experience was atypical though, since exhaustion usually eases up for most people after roughly a month.

Same here. Without staying consistent, I slowly regain whatever comes off in the days right after each injection, guessing it's inflammation-related fluid, maybe something else too. The exact cause is a mystery even to my doctor. Not much research on it yet. So I'm running a moderate amount every ten days. Slowly trying to stretch that out to two weeks, but haven't managed it yet. My doctor also mentioned something about the body holding onto old patterns, like your system keeps trying to return to a previous weight it remembers. The idea is that a genuine new normal only sets in after roughly seven to ten years, once essentially every cell has cycled through full replacement and stops clinging to the old weight. Still just theoretical based on some early research though. So I'll probably keep stretching out my injection schedule over these coming years and reassess as I go. So far I've only been maintaining for eight months.

Some research suggests this medication class might be a lifelong treatment. Hard to say for sure, no long-term data yet.
Hang in there.
