Hit my goal! Now what?

So, a few years back, I had a body composition analysis, and the results showed I was carrying around 80 extra pounds of fat. When I started taking semaglutide, I honestly didn't set a specific weight as my target, but I figured if I could shed those 80 lbs, that would be a major victory. And guess what? Today's the day I reached that milestone!

I wanna give a shout-out to everyone in this group because the info here helped me so much before I even started. I really appreciate all the shared experiences, tips, and encouragement. I jumped on the recommended lifestyle changes right away and barely had any negative side effects, just some minor constipation at first, and recently a couple of low blood sugar incidents (oops, forgot to eat!). But overall, it's been a fantastic experience!

I'm eating way smaller portions now, having mini-meals throughout the day, focusing on getting enough protein and nutrient-rich foods, upping my fiber intake, and chugging water with electrolytes. Plus, I'm lifting weights at least 3 times a week and doing at least 30 mins of cardio daily (walking, elliptical, or biking). I'm in the best physical shape of my life, and I'm expecting my blood work to be perfect for the first time ever. No more risk of fatty liver!

My mental health has improved significantly! I've kicked binge eating and compulsive shopping to the curb. I feel incredible! Feeling good has always been my priority, and looking good is a sweet bonus. 😉

Now what do I do?! I'm still taking my 2.4 mg shot every week. Right now, I'm focusing on building muscle rather than losing more weight. If I gain a pound or two as muscle mass increases, so be it. I just want to feel strong, healthy, and full of energy! I'll probably stay on this medication as long as I'm feeling good, not losing too much more weight, and my insurance keeps covering it. I've even thought about switching to a shot every other week, but I'm not sure yet.

Anyway, huge thanks to this awesome community for everything! ❤️

That's amazing, Morgan07! I'm so impressed by your dedication to health and well-being rather than just focusing on the scale. You're an inspiration to us all!

I always love seeing these before/after stories! It's so inspiring to see people turning their lives around. Gives us all hope! It's a journey, not a race, and this medication really does the trick!

Thank you for sharing your journey, Morgan07! I started a similar med back in April and I’ve lost about 13 lbs, but it sometimes feels like it's not enough.

I've struggled with being overweight most of my life, and in adulthood, I've been in the obese and morbidly obese categories. 😩 Thank you for reminding me that it’s a marathon, not a sprint. ❤️

We're pretty similar—I'm F33, 5'4", starting weight around 215—and I'm having a hard time figuring out what to eat. I know protein & fiber are key. Could you share some of the foods/meals that helped you on your journey, Morgan07? Did you stick to a specific calorie deficit? Thanks in advance, and congrats on your amazing success! 🙌🏻

Ok, under-construction, to answer your question, the weight loss wasn't always linear. I had some stalls, usually when I wasn't prioritizing protein enough, or when I was super stressed. My advice is to track your food carefully for a week or two to see where your calories are really coming from. I was surprised at how many sneaky calories I was consuming without realizing it!

For Nat_92 I basically live on Greek yogurt with berries and protein powder, chicken breast or fish with roasted veggies, and lentil soup. I generally tried to stay around 1500 calories, but I wasn't super strict about it. The main thing was just listening to my body's hunger cues.

These meds can be a real game changer. I tell ya, sometimes I feel like I'm getting my life back! I'm finally back to dancing, something I never thought I'd do again. I can actually make it through a full hour-long class without feeling like I'm about to pass out. And I even feel confident in a leotard and tights again!

That's amazing! Getting back to something you love is the best feeling. Congrats!

Wow, these stories are so inspiring. I'm just starting out, and frankly, I'm a little nervous. I've heard so many good things, but it's still a big step. Thanks for sharing, everyone!

It's totally normal to feel nervous, Nat_92! Just remember to listen to your body and don't be afraid to reach out to your doctor if you have any concerns. You've got this!
