Well, folks, it finally happened. Hopped on the scale this AM, and I've reached my target weight of 130lbs... a smidge under, actually! Feels kinda surreal, but I'm incredibly proud of sticking to it and getting here. Seriously!
I'm 62, and my journey with Mounjaro began at 196lbs (my heaviest was around 220). I was dealing with T2D, elevated blood pressure, high cholesterol, concerning liver enzyme levels, and struggling to walk even short distances. Basically, I felt awful and knew I was headed down a bad path. My doc suggested MJ to manage my blood sugar, so I started on Nov 3rd, 2024 and haven't looked back. Aside from always feeling a bit chilly, occasional constipation, and some sleeplessness, I haven't had serious adverse effects, and my body's responded remarkably well. It felt like a missing piece clicked into place. My blood sugar stabilized, I had some energy, my thoughts were clearer, and I felt in control. Wild, right? I felt AMAZING from day one.
This journey has been about so much more than just losing weight. It's been spiritual, emotional, and physical. When I began the medication, I also immediately started hitting the gym for at least an hour daily, doing both cardio and strength work. I was the person who struggled to walk across the room, but I was determined. I started taking hair supplements right away to prevent hair loss, drank 3-4 liters of water with electrolytes every day. I cut out alcohol (just a drink or two a month now) and processed foods/sugar, and made sure to get 100g of protein in daily. I even grew my hair out after 2 decades of short hair. I went blonde! And started experimenting with beauty products, heels and dresses.
My progress made me believe in myself more than ever before. I even left a stressful job and found a new one that aligns with my values. My marriage is stronger, my health is great, my relationships are better, I love myself, and I feel attractive again! Feeling whole, really. Thanks for listening. Now, I'm going to post some before-and-after pictures. It feels super vulnerable to share these, but here goes...
