I've posted some check-ins before, hitting Onederland the last time. You all have been so helpful, a real comfort and wealth of info when I was nervous about this whole thing.
I've got a before/after pic. Hard to believe it's the same guy. And I'm way tanner now from all the walking, haha. I also put together some progress pics from day one, month 3, month 6, and now. Taking those pics every month in the same shirt made tracking easier, and I made a chart with my stats showing how the pounds came off. I was going to stop at 180, but I really wanted to say that I got down 140 lbs.
I'm planning on posting again at my 1-year mark. Hopefully I'll have maintenance sorted out by then. Started in December 2024, and I responded right away. I didn't know much about healthy weight loss at first, so I'm lucky I didn't get kidney or gallstones with how fast I was losing weight in the first couple of months. I thought it was just how the medication worked. I'm so grateful for this forum for teaching me what's up, my doctor was pretty hands-off, even when I told her about my concerns.
I don't feel like I know enough to give advice, just my own story with plenty of mistakes. But I'd say take your shot every week, drink more water, move more, honestly track calories to keep a deficit, and don't jump up doses too fast. That seems like the formula for success.
I'm not sure about maintenance. I'll need a goal shift, and that's gonna be a challenge. I'll probably start by eating a bit more each day and see what happens. If I need to, I'll stretch out my shots and hopefully get a stockpile going. And if I'm still losing, I'll cut my dose. We'll see. I'll post in December when I hit one year with the full story. I want to have it all in one place for myself.
I've been shy about posting because I know I'm lucky to have responded so well. It's tough reading posts from people asking why it's not working for them. But posts like those have inspired me, and I wanted to add my story. I thought I was just destined to be a heavy guy for decades. So, if you're wondering if this medication could work for you, I really suggest giving it a shot. If it doesn't work out, you can always stop, and things go back to normal. It can do wonders if you stick with it. I NEVER thought I'd be here, and I'm still a bit shocked by my success.
