Hit my target! Down 140, 46 weeks in...

I've posted some check-ins before, hitting Onederland the last time. You all have been so helpful, a real comfort and wealth of info when I was nervous about this whole thing.

I've got a before/after pic. Hard to believe it's the same guy. And I'm way tanner now from all the walking, haha. I also put together some progress pics from day one, month 3, month 6, and now. Taking those pics every month in the same shirt made tracking easier, and I made a chart with my stats showing how the pounds came off. I was going to stop at 180, but I really wanted to say that I got down 140 lbs.

I'm planning on posting again at my 1-year mark. Hopefully I'll have maintenance sorted out by then. Started in December 2024, and I responded right away. I didn't know much about healthy weight loss at first, so I'm lucky I didn't get kidney or gallstones with how fast I was losing weight in the first couple of months. I thought it was just how the medication worked. I'm so grateful for this forum for teaching me what's up, my doctor was pretty hands-off, even when I told her about my concerns.

I don't feel like I know enough to give advice, just my own story with plenty of mistakes. But I'd say take your shot every week, drink more water, move more, honestly track calories to keep a deficit, and don't jump up doses too fast. That seems like the formula for success.

I'm not sure about maintenance. I'll need a goal shift, and that's gonna be a challenge. I'll probably start by eating a bit more each day and see what happens. If I need to, I'll stretch out my shots and hopefully get a stockpile going. And if I'm still losing, I'll cut my dose. We'll see. I'll post in December when I hit one year with the full story. I want to have it all in one place for myself.

I've been shy about posting because I know I'm lucky to have responded so well. It's tough reading posts from people asking why it's not working for them. But posts like those have inspired me, and I wanted to add my story. I thought I was just destined to be a heavy guy for decades. So, if you're wondering if this medication could work for you, I really suggest giving it a shot. If it doesn't work out, you can always stop, and things go back to normal. It can do wonders if you stick with it. I NEVER thought I'd be here, and I'm still a bit shocked by my success.

Congrats! Awesome job!

Started in February around 320, but I had changed my eating habits in January. I managed to drop 5 pounds before my first dose. Since then it has been pretty easy. Like you, I'm amazed by the person I see in the mirror. It's not the old me.

I was showing new friends pics from the Grand Canyon, and they didn't know me "before." When I showed them my pictures, they asked me who that was in the photos, thinking it was my brother. They didn't even recognize me at 325!

That's been a huge deal for me. I get way more positive attention than ever before now that I've dropped 90 pounds.

I've had guys start flirting with me! I never imagined that would happen.

I can't describe how much better I feel about myself, my confidence, and my self-worth.

You're one of those people who actually looks younger with a thinner face! I'm envious. Maybe you're just happier now, I hope so! Amazing success. I'm sure you'll do well with maintenance. I find that weighing myself every day is key (your results may vary). It keeps me on track. I've gone down in dosage, but still do my weekly shots. It's working great, but I want to be sure the weight is stable before changing the dosage again. Congrats!

Wow! You look great! Amazing progress. It's inspiring. Good luck with maintenance. I haven't been there, but I'm sure it's a whole different thing. Let us know how it goes!

Congrats on your progress! I lost 95lbs in under a year when I started, and that was over 3 years ago. I saw that I was starting to lose muscle, so I started going to the gym after six months on the medication. I was able to keep my muscle and even build it. You should think about that! Have you thought about a maintenance plan, maybe a lower dose?

OMG!!!!
What an amazing success story!
This medication is a wonder drug, but don’t forget the effort you put in to get here!
I’m almost ready to start my own maintenance journey… please keep us updated on your progress

Hey Just_Quest, that's a great point about the gym! I've been recommending resistance training more and more. I tell my patients, it's not just about the number on the scale, it's about body composition. Preserving muscle mass is critical for long-term health, metabolic rate, and overall function. Plus, it helps with the *ahem* 'legggsssssss'!

That body language speaks volumes! Plus… ahem… legggsssssss! 🦵🏼🤩

Thanks Just_Quest, that's a great point about the muscle mass. I have been thinking about that. I'm going to start incorporating some resistance training into my routine for sure. I've been so focused on the cardio, but I know I need to balance it out. I'm also thinking about lowering my dose gradually for maintenance. We'll see how it goes.

I totally get the food noise thing,

I spent decades thinking I was just a fat guy and making peace with it.
It's amazing how much mental space is freed up when you're not constantly thinking about your next snack! It's like a whole new world opens up. Congrats again!
