Low B12 on GLP-1s?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
the B12 question and the food satisfaction connection is worth exploring separately - B12 deficiency can produce neurological symptoms including fatigue and altered sensory processing that might change how food tastes or how satisfying it feels. ruling out deficiency before attributing cravings to something behavioral is the sensible sequence, especially since correction is straightforward and the effect on subjective experience can be meaningful

Oh that's reassuring! Might be on a lower iron amount and definitely need more protein, that could explain it. Will give that a try, thank you so much!

Been taking Omeprazole daily alongside Semaglutide for around a year and a half now, just switched over to Tirz two weeks back, though that's kind of beside the point. My gastroenterologist had me on a daily B12 supplement after reviewing some bloodwork.

Well, my B12 climbed from 270 up to 1,792 pg/ml since February, and the normal range tops out around 1,100. My regular doctor's response was basically 'okay, let's dial that back.' I've been taking a widely available big-box-store B12 supplement, which delivers something like 200,000%+ of the daily recommended amount, since apparently absorption is so poor otherwise.

Honestly kind of surprised an oral vitamin actually moved the needle that much.

The vitamin shortfalls are real. After two years on a daily acid reducer my B12 and calcium bottomed out. Now doing weekly B12 shots under the skin and daily calcium supplements. Getting my energy back was a genuinely pleasant surprise. Intermittent fasting changed my whole approach to eating and has been great for my digestion. Unfortunately my daily intake rarely reaches where it should, so I lean on protein drinks and supplements to close that gap.

Appreciate you sharing this. Good to know I'm not the only one.

I took oral b12 for ages. A blood test showed my levels almost off the charts, and my dr said to stop for a whole year to come back down. I never noticed any energy boost from it though.

Agree, oral B12 works for me, almost too well. I took 5000mcg and my bloodwork came back way too high, so I cut down to a smaller dose.
