MJ was NOT my miracle drug!

Hong Kong Yanpep International
70 lbs in a year, solid work! maintenance dosing is real — find the lowest dose that keeps food noise down. just remember your TDEE drops too so nutrition matters more now

Mounjaro response varies a lot person to person - the receptor mechanism difference between tirz and sema translates to real clinical variation.

Results with Mounjaro vary a lot - what makes one person's experience transformative makes another's miserable.

Persisting through a medication that isn't delivering the hoped-for results while managing a complex medical picture alongside it is the harder version of this story. The OP sharing the full experience rather than a highlight version takes honesty. What has been working better since deciding MJ wasn't the right fit?

omg same, never expected this from Mounjaro?? Handled 2.5 and 5 mg just fine but everything fell apart on 7.5 mg after two months / asked for a smaller amount or dropping back to 5 mg to see if things improve, honestly thinking about quitting altogether! My doctor doesn't seem convinced but all these changes

Coming up on eighteen months rather than the full two years. Sat at 10mg but pulled back down to 5 for roughly a week once 10 got to be too much. Then a nasty illness hit near the end of January, throwing up nonstop across nearly four weeks, worse than anything I'd experienced before, and honestly I'm still not back to baseline. Landed in the ER because keeping down even water was impossible, forget the nausea meds, and my doctor labeled it gastroenteritis, said mounjaro wasn't the culprit, and sent me off with fluids plus some pills. A few weeks later the drug had fully cleared my body, and it was like living inside one of those cartoons where a character keeps replaying the same craving loop, plus those pressure headaches behind my eyes returned with a vengeance, so early March I restarted the drug at 1.25mg weekly. Currently on shot number four at 2mg weekly, tried toughing it out but the appetite crash is just too much, so I'm scaling back to roughly 1.67 weekly instead :( Began this whole thing at 114kg, had dropped to 76.5kg right before falling sick, slid further down to 71kg during that first rough week and stayed there since eating was impossible. Things have since turned around, meals came back gradually, and both strength and body weight have been trending upward again

Honestly had some genuinely rough stretches on this medication at every dose, sometimes kicking in roughly six weeks after a dose increase, other times not until well past a month with no obvious cause.
Still worth it in the end.
Or the alternative is dealing with feeling unwell, uncomfortable, and unhappy through what's statistically likely to be a shorter life than staying at a healthy weight would give you.
Unless there's another route to losing the weight, you kind of just have to push through it.

I hear the frustration completely, and you're doing an incredible job! My doctor warned me that statistically the maximum drop from this medication tends to cap around a quarter of someone's starting weight. So you can run that math off your own starting number. Plateauing around there is completely normal, it usually means the medication's already done everything it's going to at full strength. At this stage it's about holding steady, keeping things balanced, staying consistent on the dose for a while. Healthy routines, balanced meals, resistance training a few times weekly, that sort of thing.

Also depends on whether you've actually reached the top dose yet?

Mine stalled out after a year and five months, maxed at 2mg. Put back on 15 pounds. Recently switched over to Mounjaro at 10mg, and so far it's delivering again.

Hi, which dose of MJ did you reach? 7.5mg is my current dose and results are lacking. Are there other routines I should follow with it? My doctor said nothing and just handed me the prescription. Timeline: eight weeks on 2.5mg, eight on 5mg, twelve so far on 7.5mg, and only 5kg lost. Any advice welcome.

No need to feel bad about how it went. So much depends on the attitude you bring, and the results were so worth it for me. What made you start mounjaro, did you feel you had to? I chose it myself and was pleased once my doctor prescribed it. It paid off in a huge health improvement. I knew the nasty side effects were coming and some days I considered quitting, but I decided I could cope, and I never regretted it. Not every week will be this rough, some are easier.

Hopefully a doctor is overseeing this for you. Breakthrough drugs, yes, but used carelessly, overdosing is possible and side effects pile up. Habit changes matter for lasting health too: nutrition, resistance exercise, protein intake and hydration all count. Mounjaro helps a lot, but please do it supervised.

It was a miracle for me, OP. My glucose had drifted above 12.5 mmol/L. A single 2.5 mg Mounjaro shot took a finger prick reading to 6.2 six days on, and under 5.0 a week beyond. They've sat in the low 4s for 61 weeks. Weight is down 25 kg (55 lbs, about 4 stone) and blood pressure and the rest are normal. My life changed, and I'd guess it bought me around 10 extra years, possibly 20 active ones. Looks, metabolism and lifestyle are all different now. It feels like a lottery win. Hope the same gift reaches you. Best of luck, go for it!
