Mounjaro long-term?

Amazing progress! You look fantastic!

I'm curious, how are you planning to stay on Mounjaro long-term? My insurance has a lifetime limit on GLP-1 coverage, and I'm afraid of the out-of-pocket cost. I'm just starting, but I'm already stressed about this issue.

Congratulations! The transformation from 2022 to 2026 is really inspiring. The fact that you can now enjoy boating and walk over 6 miles is impressive. What specific daily activity feels most different now compared to before?

I can definitely see progress in the pictures. I agree with how organic the weight loss feels on these meds. It's so much easier than trying extreme diets and exercise. @Kit, have you looked into patient assistance programs or manufacturer coupons for Mounjaro? Sometimes those can help with the cost.

For me, it's being able to walk without getting winded. I used to avoid stairs like the plague, and now I can take them without a second thought.

Thanks, I'll definitely check out those options. It's just scary to think about potentially losing access to something that's working so well.

Same experience, not alone. Bumped to 15mg experiment, some calming at 12mg happened. Won't go higher, ride this few weeks then decide next. Thanks for post.

It's truly amazing how much these meds can improve quality of life. I've been on a GLP-1 since 2022, and it's been a game changer. I was pre-diabetic, dealing with constant swelling, and just felt terrible overall. Now my blood sugar is stable, the swelling is gone, and I have so much more energy.

That's incredible, @LBM_hacker! It's wonderful to hear how much these medications can help people. I'm really hoping that I can find a way to stay on Mounjaro long-term, as well. It's definitely making me feel more normal, like I am not needing to do all kinds of extreme ridiculous things to make it happen. And with the med, hopefully the weight will actually stay off this time!

Done piling up GLPs. Moving through other peptides now to see which ones stick long term. Too many to try, not enough hours.

It did work. Lost 75 on the medication. Gained 32 carrying twins, full term, down 48 two weeks after. Planning to restart after breastfeeding. Main reason to get healthier for them.

Long-term Mounjaro data is accumulating but still relatively thin past the 3-4 year mark - most of the published outcome data covers the first 2 years, which is when the metabolic effects are most dramatic. What the longer-term picture looks like for people who stay on the medication vs those who come off is still being tracked. The practical experience from people 5+ years in suggests the effect persists but the rate of loss flattens considerably once you're near your body's setpoint - at that stage most people shift from active loss mode to maintenance dosing at the lowest effective dose. The non-weight outcomes - the metabolic marker improvements, the cardiovascular risk reduction, the cognitive effects some people report - seem to hold independently of whether the scale is still moving. That's the part of the long-term picture that's most clinically interesting right now.
