Mounjaro: One year later!

Hong Kong Yanpep International
went from pooping 5-7 times a day before mounjaro to once every 1-3 days now. drinking tons of water, eating 1200-1500 cals, but can't go. feel it there, get cramps, nothing happens. any walmart fixes or do i need an actual laxative?

The yogurt approach at the start of dose escalation is underrated. Live cultures are gentle enough to add at week one, and building the gut microbiome before the GI stress arrives works better than managing symptoms after. One year without digestive distress from a cup of yogurt is a strong result.

One year is when the before weight stops being abstract - it's a concrete memory you can place. The gap between what you've done and what the people around you understand is one of the consistent parts of reaching this point.

Sizing anxiety at big milestones is its own challenge - buying something that fits the body right now is the practical fix, and a birthday is exactly when to do it. One year is worth marking.

A year in and feeling okay taking your shirt off is the NSV that doesn't show up in any chart but matters more than most of the ones that do. The progression to 12.5mg with that kind of confidence building is the compound result - the external change and the internal shift arriving at roughly the same time.

2 shots in while managing the hormone suppressant effects from breast cancer treatment is a genuinely different starting context than most people here. The joint pain and fatigue from the suppressant - Mounjaro is also helping with those on top of everything else - a year from now that update is going to be something. For the OP hitting the one-year mark, hope this is the kind of encouragement that was helpful early on.

one year at the work needed to get here is a real commitment - the result reflects sustained effort over a timeline most people underestimate when they start. congrats on hitting the milestone

The disease framing is the most accurate clinical language for what's actually happening. Food noise not affecting everyone the same way is the biological reality that makes the lifestyle choice argument so unhelpful. A year in on Mounjaro at the milestone is the practical demonstration of what appropriate treatment of the actual condition looks like.

July 2026: 233
Goal weight: Onderland

Going slow with this and I'm entirely at peace with that. Kicked things off on Sema, moved over to Mounjaro this past January. This drug changed the whole game for me. Still eating regular meals, could've pushed the loss faster but deliberately held myself back. Completely reworked my relationship with food and how I approach eating in general. More fruit and veggies these past three years than the rest of my life combined. Plain water, unsweetened iced tea, and black coffee cover most of what I drink. Prioritize fiber plus protein every day except Saturday, which is my one day off. Saturdays are spent with people I care about, and I eat whatever within reason on those days.

That's way too low a starting point for the second compound, though yeah she began at the same entry dose everyone on it typically gets prescribed. Maybe you're thinking of 2.5mg?

Yes, genuinely safe and effective. My own results didn't start out as strong as hers, but once I reached 5mg things really took off. Happy things are working out for her.
