Mounjaro pen clicks - how many?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
The UK pens used to include at least one full extra dose plus some buffer for priming the needle. That meant a bonus fifth dose hiding inside a 15mg pen, extractable with insulin syringes since the mechanism locks after roughly 240 priming clicks, totaling just over 75mg total. That extra's since been stripped out on both sides of the Atlantic to match US rules, though naturally pricing stayed the same. Plenty of click-reference charts exist online, and the math's pretty straightforward once you know 60 clicks equals a 15mg single dose. Different dose pens deliver different amounts per those same 60 clicks. This is essentially how people stretch a larger pen across more doses than intended. I was comfortable running these for 8-10 weeks using solid hygiene habits and holding the plunger down until the needle came out. Eventually shifted toward unregulated sourcing though.

15 clicks feels like a pretty small dose to me. What does the instruction sheet actually say about how many clicks make up a full dose?

(Sorry, based in the US here, and our Mounjaro pens are still the single-dose kind.)

True, there isn't one, but plenty of us take non-standard doses. A friend began around 10 clicks weekly and gradually got to about 18. Me: my dose is 0.5 mg, and by clicking I get 8 doses from a 1.0 mg pen, which stretches my budget nicely.

You buy a higher strength pen and count clicks to end up with a smaller dose and save money. Rather than a 5mg pen, pick up the 10mg one and use half each time. Per dose it comes out cheaper every time, and even though the makers advise against it, they simply want more money from you. Click counting or splitting, same thing.

No problem there. I dont go through insurance. Given my 7.5mg pen, the plan is counting clicks and taking 5mg each 5 days, meaning one pen yields 6 doses rather than 4, and I can reorder whenever because it is all self-funded.

Now I'm completely confused, it's a 10mg pen. My instructions were 2.5mg weekly, and I believed counting 15 clicks per shot was right. Four injections have gone in already.

Yep, 30 clicks total. A few things I picked up: if liquid comes out right when you screw the needle on, skip priming, these pens are built to only handle 4 primes total for a standard 5mg dose, so saving those clicks matters. Also worth seeing if your doctor will write you a 15mg pen version instead, it stretches your money a lot further. Dont forget to sign up for whatever Mounjaro savings program is available online either. And theres an app called Glapp thats handy for logging shots, injection spots, weight, symptoms, it even has a built in click calculator. Good luck with it.

Okay so if youve used 2.5 from a pen rated for 5mg total, that pen should show roughly 7.5 shots taken, the extra .5 comes from priming each time. If it were flush with the final line, thatd mean 8 shots used with a whole 5mg dose remaining, plus usually a bit extra since theres always some overfill. So it looks like you could squeeze about 3 more doses out of that one.
