Mounjaro side effects got too bad 😭

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Kimchi is my go to. Local shop makes it. Keeps bad juju out. Spicy braised bean cakes amazing. Thinking of doing spicy shredded meat same way. Thanks for the recipe.

I saw someone else mention Contrave... that could be something to look into. I've also heard good things about swimming or aquafitness if you need low-impact exercise. Hang in there!

I'm going to try to get back on it but maybe I'll try splitting the dose up like Riley03 suggested. Maybe that will help with the side effects. I REALLY don't want to gain anything back. I saw some posts about people being on maintenance now, that sounds amazing! I saw a thread where someone was tapering, it gives me hope. Reddit thread

Boyfriend got a virus condition that kept him in bed nine months. Doc gave him something for cortisol to help with heart rhythm swings. Exercise is tough gets wiped from small stuff. Cut down his blood pressure meds that messed his eyes using vitamins. Long list including adaptogens coenzyme potassium salt and fish oil among others. Feels way better now.

Sorry you're going through it — the rough weeks were the worst part for me too. If sulfur burps are part of what you're dealing with, there's a longer thread someone put together with what worked and what didn't. Changing my dinner timing on shot day made a bigger difference than I expected.

That product has four capsules per serving and sixteen capsules per bottle. One capsule gave me something, might be worth buying a bottle just to test it out. Can you tell the difference between that and the other one?

The candy craving uptick on GLP-1s is documented - there's a subset of people where protein and fat aversion redirects cravings toward simple carbohydrates rather than eliminating appetite generally.

The warm water shift after GLP-1 start is common - sweet carbonation becomes aversive while neutral flavors feel tolerable. Diet soda's artificial sweetness hits differently once GI sensitivity is elevated.

The stomach side effects at that dose and duration respond to stepping back a level before the pain becomes the reason to stop entirely - a dose reduction is usually enough to reset. The support piece is real and worth addressing separately from the medical question.

The dose ceiling on MJ where GI sides become unmanageable is a real pattern - for some people it's a signal that the dose is too high rather than the wrong medication. If the stomach problems started escalating around the same dose increase, stepping back to the prior dose often resolves them before trying a full switch.

Already reached out, just waiting to hear back from her. Mainly curious whether this is something most people on this medication run into, and what steps they took to reduce it.

That sounds genuinely scary. Is this an actual documented side effect? I'd guess obesity and fast weight loss on their own could potentially trigger something like this, but has anyone found actual studies tying it specifically to mounjaro?

Side effects really haven't been rough for me, barely had any at all. Just some mild constipation that's easy enough to manage. Also, there's a heatwave going on here right now and I'm actually comfortable since mounjaro keeps me feeling cold.

Exactly, that's why I put the warning out there. Seeing people mention stomach pain but pushing through it anyway. Mounjaro can genuinely be great, though for me personally the drawbacks ended up outweighing whatever good it was doing.

Running down what Mounjaro's brought on for me so far:
*Queasy stomach
*Constipated, unless I break the rules on food, then it flips to the opposite problem
*Wiped out energy-wise
*Acid reflux (worst in the early weeks)
*Thinning hair
*Constantly chilly
*Quieter appetite chatter (barely hungry)
*Rotten-egg burps (not fun)

One major factor for me is living with Ehlers Danlos, which brings on systemic inflammation and complications like lipedema.

During the opening two weeks on Mounjaro, I shed ten pounds of water retention alone. Nothing else really changed except each leg shrank about an inch and finally felt normal, not like carrying waterlogged sandbags anymore.

My arthritis pain has also eased noticeably, which is pretty advanced for someone my age given the hypermobility involved.

Essentially Mounjaro gave me back a sense of feeling human before I'd shed a single pound of actual fat. The pain and inflammation in my joints were the whole reason I'd become sedentary and started packing on weight to begin with.

Even if I somehow kept the weight off without this medication, going back to feeling that miserable just isn't an option for me.
